I just found out that my daughter will be performing at Disney (DANCE). They think it will be the weekend of Thanksgiving. 11/24-11/28. How are the crowds at that time? Weather? Is it really a worthwhile going at that time for the short amount of time? Please help!! Crowds and airfare may be a decision maker for me.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest times of the year at the parks, so you will have plenty of company! The weather can vary, but generally speaking the average high is in the mid-70s with the average low in the mid-50s. Realistically daily highs will be somewhere between 65 and 85.

Most of us on the DIS think that a trip to WDW is always worthwhile, no matter how short!

Enjoy!

we were there this past thanksgiving week (from the friday b4 til the friday after) We didnt even tempt to go to MK on TD. We spent the whole day at MGM , which wasnt too bad. Crowds werent bad up til the tues b4 TD.
Wed was wall to wall, but we had the best time, all the Christmas decorations are up, it was warm enough for shorts and T-shirts during the day, but definetly needed a jacket at nite, it got very chilly after the sun went down.

We were there this past year and the weather wasn't too bad in the 60s and 70s. Being from New England it didn't bother us too much, it was warmer than it was at home.

The crowds definitely start getting heavy the day before Thanksgiving and continue to be really heavy through the weekend. We had been there for a week before so we made sure we did everything we really wanted to do before the crowds got really heavy. I think Soarin was a 2+ hour wait on the Friday and Saturday the FPs at Soarin were gone for the day by noon!

We ended up coming home on the Monday after the holiday because airfares were outrageous coming home on the Sunday, I think it was double what we paid to come home the next day.

Any trip to Disney, even a short one is well worth it, especially if your child is performing! Knowing how crowded it will be, just don't expect to get everything in, prioritize what you want to do and go from there.
