Warning: some major wishy-washiness going on in this post!
Sorry if the question seems dumb (i.e., of course there are crowds on a holiday weekend), but the gist of the question really is, with my options, What Would You Do?
Background - I have one day left on Uni park hoppers. I think they are good til the end of 2013. We are a family of 5 (3 teen boys age 15-20) who will be visiting family near Orlando for T'giving. It's a 13 hour drive for us.
Do we use our remaining day that weekend? Or is it just too ridiculously crowded to bother? If we went, which do you expect would be less crowded - Friday or Saturday? We are huge Disney fans, but made the mistake of going Spring Break one year - never again. I really can't stand huge lines and wall-to-wall crowds. On the other hand, DH is a teacher, so "off season" vacationing (which I love!) is not an option.
One thought was to spend the $300++ to get one night at Uni hotel for their fast pass program. We did this summer 2011 when we first used our passes. Seems ridiculously extravagant to spend that kind of $$ for one night. On the other hand, the 'pay to play' fast pass program doesn't thrill me, b/c - if I understand correctly - you get to use each pass only once per participating ride.
If the crowds aren't at "stay away" level, I guess we could drive for the day, just chill and get what we can with our last pass, and not feel we have to see "everything". HP, however, is a must - it's our reason for going at all.
What would you do? Thanks for your insights!
