My kids have the whole week off. So. Cal. Select pass has open dates before Thanksgiving. I've heard the whole week is really crowded. I like going when everything is decorated for Christmas and I'd rather that the kids don't have to be pulled out of school. Will it be crazy?

YES - it will definitely be crazy. It might be okay the first few days of the week, but it will get progressively busier as you get to Thanksgiving.

However, if you follow Hydroguy's rules for High-season touring, you will be fine. I find if I am prepared for crowds and know that it will be busy I plan my days a little differently than if it is slower and off-season.

I went with DH in the middle of July and it was hot and crowded - but we did everything we wanted and more and had a great time and I would definitely consider doing it again with my kids.

Ok, dumb questions: Who is Hydroguy and where do I find his rules for High-Season touring? I will be @ DL for the Thanksgiving weekend.

I'm going to have to check out Hydoguy's tips also. We just found out that we are going the week of Thanksgivving. I was trying to avoid it, but our works schedules kept conflicting and if we didn't go then we would be able to until 2010 sometime. I really wanted a trip in 2009. I'm sure we will still have fun. We went to WDW over spring break this last year and it was fine. Just did a little planning.

Our kids also have the whole week of Thanksgiving off now. We went last year. Arrived the Saturday before T-day and left the day before, and we are doing the same thing this year!:cool1:
Quite honestly the hardest part of the trip was the drive home (the day before Thanksgiving is a busy travel day). We didn't find the parks too bad. We have been in October, during fall breaks, when the crowds have been MUCH worse. :scared1: If I remember correctly, the lightest days were Monday and Tuesday. Saturday and Sunday had larger crowds but last year that was the first weekend of the Holiday decor, which is going up earlier in November this year!:)

Thanks for the tip about Hydroguy. Will check it out. I think that preparation for crowds is the key. The funny thing is, we went in the evening the Friday before Labor Day weekend and didn't have lines for the things we wanted to do. I guess you never know. Now to figure out where to stay. :yay:
