Thanksgiving week weather...not good

just checked the weather for my trip next week...looks AWFUL....50-60% chance of rain every day beginning wednesday (the day we arrive) through sunday at least.

anyone else heading down next week? are you as disappointed as i am?

Don't give up hope. This time of year the forecast seems to change quickly. Also, we had a similar forecast last year and it only rained once--during the night. Good luck!

We arrive next Wednesday also. I've been watching the forecast change everyday. I am not worried about it. I will make sure to pack ponchos though.

One thing I've learned since my folks moved to Florida 8 years ago is that weather forecasts aren't always that reliable.
Last year during Thanksgiving week we were going to the Christmas party and we got up that morning and it was POURING. Real "you build the ark, I'll gather the animals" rain.
Mom and Dad live about 45-60 minutes north of Orlando. The news was forecasting rain for the entire day. We packed up the ponchos and left, because we had already paid for our tickets. Got to EPCOT about 11, went to MK around 5 and left around 11 at night and it NEVER RAINED A DROP. We talked all day about Disney being able to control the weather so it rained everywhere in Florida BUT there.

I'm flying in on Tuesday, and arriving at SSR on Sunday. I'll be packing the raingear, but expecting anything.

I am arriving Thursday on the red-eye flight for a week at SSR, and I have found that the weather forecasts aren't very reliable. We went to Epcot last year, and it poured. At the same time, the kids went to MK, and it never rained a drop! That's typical Florida weather.

OH BOY!!!! Just checked out the weather forecast that jekjones provided above (thanks fellow Minnesotan). That's much better than what I've been looking at. Can't wait till DH gets home to show him.

As I always say " A bad day at Disney is better than a good day at work anytime"

We live in Florida and as one of the other post said don't rely to heavily on the forecasters. Unless you were planning on doing water parks which at this time of the year is a waste, you can get in and out of attractions in most parks without getting soaked.

Just enjoy your time away.

Nope I'm not. A 50% chance sounds like the meteorologist is flipping a coin. The forecast changes every day. Look at it this way, if there's a 50% chance of rain, there's also a 50% chance of no rain.

We went to Epcot last year, and it poured. At the same time, the kids went to MK, and it never rained a drop! That's typical Florida weather.

I can do better than that. Last year, DH and DS were doing the whole Star Wars autograph-seeking at MGM and got hit by torrential rains/thunder/etc. DD and I were watching Lights Camera Action - at the same time, in the same park - and did not get any rain at all.

Hmmm high temp of 62 predicted for Tuesday ... I guess we won't be doing a waterpark that day after all. But I'm from Maine, so it'll be swimmin' weather any time that the pond ain't froze.

I think the forecast is looking half decent. And heck, a bad day at Diseyworld is better than all sorts of other alternatives (like work, etc.)

Well, besides just liking the rain?

1) I like the way things look when it is raining; I think it is pretty. Raining at night when all the lights are on is even better - especially at MK where it looks like they are sparkling. Watching the rain on the water from a hotel balcony is relaxing. Watching a big lightning storm is always cool. I used to live in Florida and miss the big thunderstorms.

2) There are less "spacers"; as my husband and I call them. Spacers are groups of people that walk really s l o w and space themselves out just enough to block a whole walkway so you can not get around them. When it rains the spacers are ducking into doorways and under trees, so that means nice wide open walkways to walk on.

3) We always seem to have a bit more fun when it rains. It is like all worries just wash away with the rain; we can all act like dorks and not care if we get wet, what our hair looks like, etc. I think I have more pictures of our family smiling and laughing, wearing our ponchos and looking like a pack of drowned rats. WDW is one of the few places where your butt can literally be soaking wet and there you are still grinning like a fool!

One more good thing about rain.....a lot of people leave when it rains, and the crowds and lines go way down. And so many of the attractions are actually indoor, its not so bad anyway.

great reasoning! especially #2.....my wife and i are always complaining about the same thing - now we have something to call those folks!

btw - our trip is now only 2 days away, and i just checked weather.com....the latest forecast looks like the rain's gonna hold off afterall. but thanks for all the encouragement!

Just talked to the folks last night-Dad says cool weather up until Thanksgiving, then gradually warming up into the mid to upper 70's. He said there's a chance of rain, but like he says "so what else is new".
When I leave NJ tomorrow the high for the day is about 46 degrees, in Orlando they're calling for a high of about 60 degrees. I'll take it!!

Woke up to a covering of snow here in Ohio, and temp "feels like" 29 degrees, so go to Orlando and enjoy!!! I know we would. We're heading for Boston, heck it will probably be warmer there than here.

i'm with ya.....i never meant that we wouldn't have a good time at WDW if it rains. we ALWAYS have a good time! it's the happiest place on earth - how can you not?? given the choice, i'd prefer good weather (as would almost everybody).....but i'd rather be at disney on a rainy day than at work in pittsburgh on a beautiful day anytime!
