Thanksgiving Week or the Week before Christmas?

Hello! I got a postcard with a special rate in the mail this week. I wasn't going to go back to Disney until summer 2008, but now I am thinking I can afford a trip this year, too.

The special rate was available at the Wilderness Lodge for both Thanksgiving Week and the Week before Christmas. If you know of any pros or cons for either time, will you please share?

To me, both times of the year seem equally wonderful. I have never been to Disney World any other time than late June, July, or August to early September. As you can imagine, hot, hot, hot!

I am so looking forward to less humidity and heat. This trip will be a dream come true! So far, the only difference I can see is in choosing the December trip, I will have another week off teaching once I get back home to rest.

With either trip, I will be using three personal days in addition to my vacation. The Thanksgiving trip would be November 17th to the 25th. And the Christmas trip would be December 15th to the 23rd.

Are certain decorations out at one time and not another? Any special events I would miss at either time? Would the Wilderness Lodge have more Christmas Spirit closer to the actual holiday? Is the weather different or about the same? Anybody travelled both times of year and have a preference?

I will be travelling with a three year old. Any other resort you would recommend over the Wilderness Lodge? Thanks for any tips you can provide!

Hi.....
I went to WDW in December of 2005 and it was a great trip. I also went in Sept of 2006 just 9 months later and it was HOT HOT HOT. We said we would only go back to WDW in either late Nov or early Dec. My vote would be for Thanksgiving week although the crowds will probably be bigger then the week before xmas. Not only that but you'll be off from school then anyway for the Thanksgiving Holiday right? The weather when we went the second week of December was great. High 60's low 70's but nights were very cool. We were wearing winter coats, hats, gloves etc at night. I bet late Nov will be even warmer, but still be cooler at night. Florida is very unpredictable as far as temperatures so you'll have to prepare for every extreme. Find out whether the xmas decor will be up cuz you must not miss that.

I typically stay during the 2nd or 3rd week of December and it is great. Crowds are down and the holiday decorations are out. Love that time of year as it isn't too hot during the day (but the previous post is correct, prepare for some cooler evenings).

Definitely go for the week before Christmas. There are a lot more people at Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving week is not as bad as you would expect but it will be less crowded the week before Christmas.
