We are planning a trip to see the holiday decorations at Disney. I was just wondering if it would be better to go Thanksgiving week or christmas week. I know they both will be extremely busy but is one better than the other?

I have been 3 times during Thanksgiving week- haven't been during Christmas. While this past Thanksgiving was much more crowded than our previous trips, I still think it would be better than Christmas week. I've heard the parks are mobbed that week. I think I heard they broke an attendance record Christmas week this past year? If you plan right, Thanksgiving isn't that bad. MK was very crowded every day- do it earlier in the week. Then we planned our days around EMH. We did EMH a couple of days and then park hopped to another park- huge difference in crowds!
Good luck! Maybe someone who has been during Christmas week can help.princess:

I haven't been there for Thanksgiving, but I was there during Christmas week. Yes, it is very crowded but the positives far outweigh the negatives. The decorations are beautiful, the Christmas feeling is great, etc. We wouldn't think twice about Christmas week again.

The xmas decorations go up in the days before Thanks. The shows and festivities begin the day after Thanks. I would suggest the week of Thanks. The week between xmas & NYE is historically the busiest week of the year for WDW.

Dont forget to make PS before you go for both dates though.

The week before Christmas is great, as long as you are out of there before Christmas day. The week after Christmas is unbearable IMO. Thanksgiving week was great when we were there 10 years ago, I don't know about recently.

Would the week AFTER Thanksgiving be an option?? If so, this would be your best choice! I work with someone who went during this week and she said it was wonderful!! All the Christmas decorations are up, you can go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party one night (ticketed event). The best part is that the crowds were minimal!!
