Thanksgiving meal in your villa

We are staying in a Grand villa at OKW this Thanksgiving, and we plan on making our dinner in the villa just like at home. Has anyone done this? The one thing that concerns me is cooking utensils, pots, pans, bowls, etc. we do drive so I have plenty of room to bring items I know I need to bring my roaster, but would like some other ideas so I do not forget anything.

We cooked the meal in our villa. I brought foil pans and packed them into our luggage. The meal was towards the end of our stay. I did not want the left overs or the clean up. So I could pitch the food and containers when we were done. It would of been helpful to have another casserole type dish. I think one was in the villa, I just used another type that was available in the villa.

This is what DVC news says is in an OKW Grand Villa. I've never stayed there, so I can't personally vouch for the accuracy of this list.

We ordered our meal from Cracker Barrel last year and had to heat vegetables and cook the turkey. There was a shortage of sauce pans and bowls. Thank goodness we could reuse the containers the vegetables came in to serve them. It was a great experience having Thanksgiving dinner in the villa and all of us loved it.

This is something I always wanted to do, so I am looking forward to this. DH does most of the cooking and he does enjoy it. Our daughter just moved to Fl a few weeks ago so she will be bringing a lot of the food for us to prepare, I will just have to get milk, butter, etc at the store when we get there. Hopefully we will be in our room on Tuesday to check out what we need before my daughter leaves her apartment, so she can bring items not in the unit.

Plan what you will need for cooking when you get there, contact housekeeping for extra kitchenware. If they have spares they will bring them to you, it might take awhile so ask early.

I would bring extra plastic bowls with lids (ziplock or glad) for the leftovers or even to serve some of the vegetables or the cranberry sauce. Also the rooms don't really have serving spoons and forks. Pick up some cheap ones at Target or Walmart so you don't have to worry if you lose them. Bring chip clips and ziplock assorted size bags as someone always needs one. A chip clip might even help to keep a poor fitting curtain closed so the bedroom is dark.

I plan on I plan on making a list and packing everything non perishable in a plastic storage bin. Thanks for the idea of plastic bowls and bags for leftovers. I did not think of those. Does anyone know if you can order a fresh turkey from Publix and I can pick it up on Wed? I don't want to wait until the last minute to find a turkey.

Several years ago in an OKW 1-Bdrm for Thanksgiving, we had four people for the night and 8 people over for dinner. Requested and received three extra parking passes for three additional vehicles. DW cooked the turkey and dressing in the resort and the visitors brought the sides and dessert.

There will be six of us, but we will be making all the food, even the pies. We plan on baking a few days before at my daughters apartment which is about 2 hours away. Does anyone know what size the table is in a grand villa?
