Thanksgiving - Live and Solo Day 5, November 28th
Who - Me, age 35
When - Wednesday Nov. 24th thru Monday Nov. 29th
Where - Coronado Springs
How - Solo (many Disney vacations under my belt, many solo vacations under my belt, but this is my first solo Disney trip)
Why - My usual traveling partner, my cousin AnnMarie, has the responsibilities of a family and couldn't travel over the holidays.
My day began early today - I had an 8:00 PS for breakfast at Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I didn't feel like taking the bus, so I went to El Centro to catch a cab. One of the bell services guys told me to wait a few minutes and a bus would come to take me there. Sure enough a few minutes later, a bus marked "special" came and got me. I didn't question it - I was just happy to save the time and money!! Breakfast was delicious - if you've never had the breakfast buffet there, I highly recommend it. A little under $30 for the buffet, frunch and a diet coke.
Originally, I planned to go to Animal Kingdom that morning. For some reason, I just wasn't feeling it. I decided to let fate decide where I was going. I decided that I would take the first bus - no matter where it was going. About two minutes later, a bus to MGM arrived. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the crowds were very low. I will spare you all of the details, but suffice it to say that I rode Tower Of Terror about 10 times (practically a walk-on each time), did Who Wants To Be A Millionaire - Play It! twice. (No hot seat again - I was off my mark, I didn't even make it into the top ten this time).
I saw the Beauty and The Beast show again, and rode Rock'n Roller Coaster.
I got a ChipWich and took the bus to Downtown Disney for a little last minute shopping. I arrived back at the hotel about 4 o'clock and grabbed a turkey sandwich from The Pepper Market ($7.00). I took a quick shower and did a little packing. I made a few phone calls home and hopped the bus to the Magic Kingdom.
The weather was great tonight - cool and a little breezy. I got to the MK about 6:30 and got my MVMCP wristband. Main Street was all decked out in holiday pageantry - it looked so pretty. I decided to head towards Tomorrowland first. Buzz Lightyear was pretty much a walk-on. I (somehow) got 124,000 points. I hit some target that gave me 100,000 points in one shot. After that I rode the TTA and then made my way over to Space Mountain. I was a little nervous to ride SM after having seen it lit up the other day - but I forced myself to do it. It was even more terrifying now that I know what it looks like.
Stitch had a 40 minute wait, so I decided against it and watched Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas Show. I was disappointed to see that Carousel of Progress was not open. It was open during the party last year.
I then made my way towards Fantasy Land. I rode Pooh, Snow White and Peter Pan before making my way to the Haunted Mansion. All of these rides pretty much had no wait (except Peter Pan - 20 minutes).
I grabbed some hot chocolate and went towards Big Thunder. I rode that three times in a row - I love riding that at night. Splash Mountain was next. Just as I go off SM, Wishes started. I got a pretty good spot for the show.
Once Wishes ended, I rode Pirates of the Caribbean. Jungle Cruise was not open - too bad, I like riding that at night.
I backtracked and rode Splash, Big Thunder and HM again. I was getting a little hungry, so I grabbed a chicken strips child?s meal at Cosmic Ray's. After that, I made my way towards Main Street and squeezed my way into a good spot for the Christmas Parade. When the parade ended (about 11:00), I decided to make my way back to the hotel.
So here I am, half-packed and saddened to be leaving. I do, however, have quite a few hours to spend in the parks tomorrow. My driver from Tiffany Towncar isn't picking me up until 4:00. I'll probably sleep in, and leave the hotel about 11-ish. No doubt I'll head over to MGM for one last ride on TOT and one more chance at the hot-seat.
My final day's report probably won't be posted until Tuesday, since I won't be getting home until after 10:00 tomorrow.
Random thoughts and observances:
Is "chipwich" a regional thing? Each time I ordered one, the CM looked at me like I had two heads. I had to always wind up asking for an "ice cream cookie sandwich". Is it like the whole "pop vs. soda" and "hero vs. sub vs. grinder" thing?
That's it - I'm too tired for any more thoughts.
Stay tuned for day 6.
As always, your thoughts/comments are appreciated.
