The big day is tomorrow! No, not Thanksgiving Day but the day before Thanksgiving day! My Wednesday list is a foot long, and that is after doing a lot of prep work last weekend. I am preparing a lot of food ahead of time tomorrow, ironing tablecloths and hand washing glasssware, etc., etc. My DEAR husband even took the day off so he can help me. He will also do some yardwork out front and maybe get some Christmas lights up. We will sit down to watch 'Planes,Trains and Automobiles' (yearly tradition) with a pizza after we finish the list.:faint:
What about you? Are you almost ready? :)

Nope. Not ready. Well....almost.

Spent 3 hours last night polishing silverware (we use DH grandmothers silver from 1919 and my grandmothers china) and then my dd GENTLY informed me that it would be REEAAALY nice to have a cornucopia for a centerpiece...and DH AGREED! :sad2:

So, I'm off tomorrow to JoAnn's and Michaels in hopes I can find something. Then to Trader Joes for the wine, then pick up the turkeys at the butcher (we are smoking one!) and then pick up the pies from the local farmer.

Then home, set the table, get the appetizer dips ready...and oh, yeah...CLEAN!!! With 3 kids in the house, everything has to be done LAST minute, or it will be all messed up again! :rotfl:

Oh yeah, forgot about the turkey cupcakes I promised dd we'd make together. That will be tomorrow night.

Then, I'll open up one of those bottles of wine from Trader Joes and go to town. :rotfl:

Sounds like you will deserve it! :thumbsup2
I saw some beautiful cornucopia with fresh flowers at a local market today. I was sooo tempted but am now having second thoughts after reading your post. Hmmmm, maybe I will send DH tomorrow to get one.

I have almost everything ready that can be done ahead of time, except for ironing the table linens and I'll do that tomorrow after work. I've cooked and diced the sausage, & diced cranberries, celery, onions, carrots & bread for the stuffing. Dips are prepared and just need to be warmed up. Broccoli casserole and twice baked potatoes are in the fridge & ready to go. Lemons for the shrimp platter are sliced. Dinnerware is ready & the house is cleaned (although my bathroom & the laundry room floor will need to be gone over again Thursday morning).

My parents are coming up tomorrow afternoon, so Mom will probably iron the table linens while I make the stuffing. DH and Dad will probably just watch TV. :rotfl:

I have never done so much ahead of time before. Hopefully I'll be able to actually enjoy my company on Thanksgiving.

I'm mostly ready. Double checking that I have all the ingredients I need. Washing dishes, my roomba is vacuuming, have some dusting and window cleaning to do tomorrow. My sister works at a florists and she bought the centerpiece and it's being delivered tomorrow.

I'm not ironing the table linens :). I'll just toss in the dryer with a wet towel and that should get the wrinkles out.

My best friend just called me and she is a single mom of a pre-tween and is signed up for fostering in the hopes of adopting. She's getting over a bad cold and fever and family services just called this morning and dropped off a 6 month old and a 2 1/2 year old. I have the day off tomorrow so I said I'd drop by and meet the kiddies. Just have to make pies tomorrow. She totally forgot that she has to cook (I did invite but she decided to do it at her house) on Wednesday in addition to suddenly having a baby and a toddler.

So, if anyone feels overwhelmed....did that help?

I am so not ready! I am so far behind this year I'm wondering if I should just tell everyone to stay home! Normally, I have all my shopping and good deal of my food prep done by today but not this year. I haven't even made my grocery list! I do have my turkey though, since I got it last week on sale.

Today, instead of doing all the things I should have been doing, I spent the day getting Christmas decorations out of the attic and checking lights, etc.
I don't know why I didn't take care of Thanksgiving first, other than my son aka my muscle, was home and feeling cooperative so I took advantage! Now everything is out of the attic and ready to go up on Friday and I won't have to beg anyone for help.

Now if I can just get going on Thanksgiving...:rolleyes1

Oh, and did I mention she said that there have to be specific things IN the dang thing? Apples, pumpkins, corn, leaves, and pinecones. :rotfl:

She's 5. :headache:

We have close to 1,000 reservations for the restaurant and no vacancies in the inn on thursday...I don't think I will ever be prepared. However, they did give me the 3 days leading up to Thanksgiving off for a reason lol

It's my house but my mom lives with me. She is cooking, I don't touch turkeys. I set the dining room table a few weeks ago. Tomorrow we will be setting up our Christmas Trees and cleaning up some. If I am lucky my husband might hang the lights. They have the live Christmas trees on the lots at Target now. I got the pick of the litter. Best tree ever. We will decorate the trees after dinner on Thanksgiving.

We are almost ready. The house is really clean, blinds and all. Pies are ordered and groceries are bought. Ww still have to go to the liquor store and then surface clean Thanksgiving morning. :goodvibes

I am so far behind that I don;t even know where to start :confused3 Why am I here instead of peeling onions???????

Umm, yeah, I am no where near ready. Considering I didn't know I was having Thanksgiving until last Sunday, I think everyone will cut me some slack. My mom was going to have it but she was in the hospital last weekend--she's better now and is home but there's no way she can do Thanksgiving.

So, I'm working today, the house isn't clean, the shopping is done, though. I baked one pie this morning. I have to take my mom to the doctor which means I'll be working late to make up the time. Oh, and to top it all off, I've had a sinus infection since last weekend. I'll be up pretty late doing the prep work for cooking.

Luckily, there will just be four of us--DH, my mom, my sister, and I. They'll be thankful for whatever I manage to get done. ;) And we'll all be thankful my mom is doing better!

we aren't having dinner on Thursday until 3, so I am having DH and the kids clean and put the tree up in the morning. DH cleaned the carpets last night so thats done.

The shopping is done and most of the things are made and just need to be heated up, so I think I am in pretty good shape.

My day will be busy as well:

I have to sub in the high school first until 2:30.
Finish last minute shopping when I get home.
Help my Mom prepare the pies.
Do last minute cleaning.
And get the spare beds ready for my sons coming home!

It's going to be a fun day!!!

I am close to being ready...I do have to run out and pick up a few last minute items from the grocery store, bake a pie today and do some cleaning. That should do it.

This is my first Thanksgiving in awhile that I don't have to stress.

The only people coming over are my parents and my in-laws - so that's great!!! I don't need to stress about my house, because we all live in the same town, and we see each other all the time. They both bring 2-3 things, so my DH and I don't have to cook everything:thumbsup2

I have to work today, and then tomorrow morning we go to church, so I set the Thanksgiving table on Sunday, so I don't need to worry about that:thumbsup2 Tonight after work, my girls and I are going to bake some brownies and cookies, and then we are all done.

This is going to be an awesome Thanksgiving for us!!!!!:yay:

Good luck to all those that have tons to do, and alot of stressed to deal with:wizard: I understand, because past years I've had that too, and sometimes it puts a damper on the holiday:guilty: Take care all, and Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

Well; I think I'm doing ok timewise- the house is spotless- except for my room; which is the dumping ground for everyone! I had new carpet put in last weekend, new paint DH did in 4 rooms,he's finishing a wallpaper border now- and he was at work till 4 am and has to be back @ 3 pm!:scared1: The company will be arriving all evening- just baking, laundry and have to brine the turkey and stop at the liquor store and get my polish changed on my nails; all that painting messed them up! I need a massage! I was scrubbing so hard and long yesterday; it doesn't feel like I got any sleep- even though I managed 8 hours:confused3 Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

soooooooooooooooooo not ready, and there are 1001 things I should be doing right now instead of being on the computer. Cooking, cleaning, chopping, preping, baking, shopping take your pick. I have all day right?
