Thanksgiving Dinner?

So my family holiday dinners have kind of gone downhill since my Mom passed. My DH has to work holidays and my bro and sisters are struggling to get their own families to the table. Sad. Anyway, this year I'm heading to the World November 21st -December 1st. DH will join us on Sunday the 26th. So just me and DD 14 and DS 16 fot Turkey Day. We have ADR for Garden Grill and Whispering Canyon. I want to release the ADR i don't use asap. What do you think? Any help deciding grest!y appreciated!

A lot of variables here. What else are you wanting to do that day? Do you have a park preference? GG has characters and you're children are older; do they want characters? (We have same ages and we're doing GG.) Whispering Canyon CAN be fun if you do some research and ask for certain things, but if your kids are easily embarrassed, that might not be a good choice. I'm not sure of this, but my feeling is GG will be a little quieter, a little more "private," whereas WC will be louder and not as intimate.

Garden grill will be more of a traditional thanksgiving dinner. I don't know how whispering canyon would be. If that was something you were curious about.

Based on your description, I'd go with Liberty Tree Tavern all the way.

My kids have always loved GG, so GG gets my vote. The food is yummy and the characters are fun. At 18 and 15, the kids opted to go to GG on their own so DH and I could have a date night.

I think GG would be the perfect T-day location. Added bonus will be the silliness of the characters. It sounds to me like you need something light-hearted. I also think being in Epcot on T-day would be fun as you can then Dessert Around the World.....

Last year for Thanksgiving we ate at Boma. It was fantastic, they had the turkey and trimmings PLUS their traditional buffet. If you feel your family may be a little sad on Thanksgiving, then the buffet and lots of activities and things to do at AKL are a great way to spend Thanksgiving.

But good luck getting a reservation! I have had a reservation finder set for quite some time. My second choice is Sanaa and I do have one for there as well as one at Tusker House. Just waiting for the menus to be released.

I agree. I think GG woudl be fun and would lighten what has the potential of becoming a very sad day. Then touring the WS for desserts and completing the evening watching Illuminations sounds great!
