Thanksgiving dinner

I was just talking with Mom and Dad about the fact that they're going to be in WDW over Thanksgiving week, and the fact that I don't think it's going to work out for me to join them. Double bummer. Missing an opportunity for a free room at Disney and missing being with family at Thanksgiving.

They told me they hadn't made any plans yet for Thanksgiving dinner. Uh oh! I said the end of September may be a little late to try to get an ADR for Thanksgiving day. None of us has any experience at being there that time of year. Is it crowded? Hard to get into the nicer restaurants? Or is it deserted because everyone's at home sitting around grandmother's table?

What are some of the places that offer a traditional Thanksgiving meal? They want to have turkey and the trimmings. They said they may try Liberty Tree Tavern because they knew turkey was on the menu there. (I've also been raving about it since first trying it on our last trip.) But I told them there are most likely many really nice places to get a turkey dinner on Thanksgiving day. LTT is really fun, but for Thanksgiving dinner, I thought something a little more upscale might be nicer for them. Does anyone know which restaurants do something special for Thanksgiving? Any suggestions on how to make mom's first Thanksgiving meal away from home (and not cooking for 30 people) as memorable as possible?

I'm almost positive that every single restaurant offers Thanksgiving fare in addition to their regular menus on Thanksgiving day. I think I called to make ADR's last year in mid-October and had no other choice but the restaurant at Old Key West resort. Every other place was BOOKED! We actually had a nice experience there and would recommend it if they don't have some other place in mind. I apologize but I can't remember the name of it. Definitely get a reservation somewhere because nobody wants to be stuck eating hamburgers for Thanksgiving dinner. :sad2:

Dont wait any longer, Call TODAY! You will just have to see what is left. IF they dont have ADRs they need to realize they will be at a CS location.

Yes it gets very crowded, I have seen them fill the park to capacity on several occassions during that weekend.

Unfortunately, LTT was completely booked for Thanksgiving day. No open times at all. We will be sitting in Mom's Kitchen (Prime Time Cafe) for Thankgsiving this year!!!!!

Just heard back from them. He went down a list of places without luck, and finally managed to get in at the Yacht Club's Galley.

I don't know the place they picked but a few years ago we ate at the Swan for Thanksgiving and it was wonderful. I would eat there again in a heartbeat. They had all the traditional food and many other things too. It was a buffet.

YES....it is very crowded at Thanksgiving. The week before Thanksgiving is usually dead but picks up again the Tues/Wed before Thanksgiving. We called 5 months before and had trouble finding ADR's for Thanksgiving Day when we went 3 years ago. We did get ADR at the Crystal Palace and it was a wonderful buffet. And there was definitely turkey on the menu.

Most places are booked solid! We book HDDR months ago, and now I hear the 7:15pm show is sold out.
