Not directly related to this, but I have to share our Thanksgiving dinner experience at Disney, many years ago. Being the newbies we were, we had no idea how any of the ADRs worked, or that they even existed. We went to Magic Kingdom that day, and around 2:00pm decided to just waltz up to Cinderalla's Royal Table and asked how long the wait would be for dinner. The CM looked at me like I had 5 heads, and pretty much said "for Thanksgiving dinner? About 1 year" LOL
It was then I started realizing how much advance planning went into a Disney vacation. I started to panic, thinking I had ruined Thanksgiving for my family (my wife and 2 daughters, then ages 12 and 5). I called a bunch of places and got the same response.
We decided to trudge back to the resort (All-Star Music) to figure out what to do. We passed the cafeteria on the way, and I decided to check in to see what they were offering. They had a full Thanksgiving meal, so we ordered 4 of them. It came out looking like a school lunch, but was actually pretty tasty. I thought my kids were going to hate me, but we laughed and had a good time the entire dinner. At the end they said it was definitely a memory they'd never forget, and they haven't! Every year around this time someone brings up that day, and we laugh again.
We went down the following Thanksgiving, and I made sure to make plans way in advance! We had dinner at Rose & Crown, and they even picked my daughter to "start" Illuminations from their deck afterwards. Another great Thanksgiving Experience!
