Thanksgiving day help needed you guys...please.

Hello,

I have never had the chance to be at WDW at Thanksgiving...I am so excited, crowds don't bother me at all, I do NYE there but what I was wondering is there special parades or anything differ in the world. I look so forward to hearing from someone. Thanks so much for your time.

No special parades but MK will be very crowded on TD. If you want to eat other than counter service or food court be sure to make PS ASAP. We spent TD at MGM one year and had a great time. I think all restaurants offer traditional Thanksgiving dinners but as I said before you really need to make PS.

we were considering MGM, so thanks for the advice.....I have had no luck with ps, but I check daily , you never know when I may get lucky and get LTT....yeah right, but stranger things have happened.

If you can't get anything at MGM, several of the restaurants at DTD and the resorts (like Boardwalk area) still had some times available.

But keep trying. Persistance usually pays off!!!

Our first Thanksgiving there, too, and I can hardly wait!

This will be our 2nd trip over THanksgiving. Im sooo excited to get back down there at that time of year. Although there arent any special Thanksgiving parades, Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party starts on 28th I think!! They show they special Christmas parade for that. We are doing ours on Tuesday the 30th.

We are eating THanksgiving at Hollywood & Vine at MGM. We got the Fantasmic dinner package, and it didnt cost any more there. All the other restaurants added almost 10 bucks a person to the dinner price. We did Epcot last time at Thanksgiving, and I know better that to attempt MK. Didnt really want to go to AK so that left MGM. Im not expecting to do much, as Im betting its going to be crowded, but it will be nice just to walk around, eat dinner, see fantasmic and walk thru the osbourne lights.

Ive also been told to watch when you are booking character dinners for thanksgiving that people tend to stay longer when characters are involved. This proved true for us at Thanksgiving in '02. We booked the Garden Grill at Epcot, and took the latest seating so we would be sure that we would be there since we flew in that day. We went to check in about 30 minutes early to see if they would take us, as we were starving. Well... there was a 90 minute wait for all of us with PS!!!!!!!!!!! They got backed up taking walk ins during the day, and then people wouldnt leave so there were quite a few very irrate people waiting. This was 7:30 at night, all of Furture World was closed so you couldnt even go to the food court in the Land. They were calling around to the restaurants in World Showcase for the lady in front of me to see if anything was available, thanksgiving food or not, and the only thing was in CHina. After much complaining, they finally brought out cheese and fruit and we finally were seated at about 9. We missed Illuminations, the waiters were exhausted as now they were working hours past the last seating. The food was ok, and we did see the Characters. By the time we got out of there, the park was completely closed. We were nervous about getting a bus, but they were still running. So if you are still trying fort PS's, watch what times you get. It may ruin the rest of your plans for the night!!

This will be our 6th Thanksgiving @WDW and we love that time of year. You get to enjoy all the holiday decorations and the weather is usually very mild. Our TD dinner will be @Garden Grill as we had a group of 18 and didn't want a very late PS. Good luck on a PS and have a wonderful trip all who are going for Thanksgiving.

......and don't forget the Osborne Lights open @MGM 11/24. That's worth the trip within itself.

We are planning on spending Thankgiving Day in the Magic Kingdom. We have priority seating at Crystal Palace for 5:00. Do you think we will be able to get on most of the major rides?

RIFamily - I hate to be the bearer of bad news. You will have a difficult time doing ALL of the big MK rides on TD. To have any chance of completing your goal, be at the MK 30-45 minutes before the park opens, with sneakers on...


The Osborne Lights are beautiful.

This will be our 4th Thanksgiving Week trip. We no longer make a PS for TD Dinner. The sit down restaurants are really expensive. If you are looking for a traditional Thanksgiving Day meal, some of the counter restaurants, Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe in MK for example, have had a traditional meal that was very reasonably priced. If you are staying at a moderate or value resort, the food courts will have a traditional meal as well.

Thanks for your reply. I have been telling my family that we will be doing the 100 yd. dash throughout the parks all day. But we are all physically fit and our youngest is ten and we have two teenages .... so ... we are going to brave it. I figured we can always go back to MK on our AK day because I know we won't spend a full day at AK ... THANKS!

I will be there also. keep trying back for PS. People have up until 48hrs to cancel or they r charged. so don't give up. looks like it maybe crowded this year no luck on a couple of PS i wanted.

Just curious.. what specific restaurants are you all trying to get that are filled? Are there NO ps's or are you trying for certain times. I was able to book Garden Grill 2 years ago pretty late.

We're going for a quickie trip - leaving Thanksgiving morning and coming back Monday. We're having our T-day dinner at the Yacht Club Galley. Can't wait for the festivities. We're doing the sleigh ride on Friday night, and the Candelight Processional Dinner Package on Saturday night. Oh - and Thanksgiving evening we're going to see Osborne Spectacle of Lights.

Fun fun fun. What a great way to kick off the season, huh?

Did you check the Swan & Dolphin? They had a few places.. and although I thought they were pricey, they offered alot. One had a bunch of characters and one I think had a jazz band. You could give it a shot. ALso, we booked Garden Grill in the Land late in 02. Did you try there? its family style, but had turkey!!

We have a 1:30 PS for Garden Grill. Hoping to enjoy EPCOT most of the day and try to sneak over the MK for one last WISHES. We will be hanging around all day on Nov. 26, our flight doesn't leave MCO until 8:30 pm. Any suggestions on what to try to do on the last day? We will most likely leave our bags with bell services at BCV and eat dinner at Cape May(5pm PS) then head out for MCO around 6:30pm. Is this doable and still be able to enjoy a park for a while that day?

Well this will be our first WDW trip over Thanksgiving....or any other busy time of year. We've always gone off-season between early Sept. and early November plus one trip in mid-January. We actually got PS at LTT on TD for 12:00 as well as PS at other spots on other days for the remainder of our visit. We're expecting to be shocked by the size of the crowds and plan to spend most of our time enjoying the Christmas decorations and such.

This should give us a good range of crowd size experiences at WDW with this trip as one of the most crowded and our Sept '01 trip as one of the least. We were scheduled to arrive at the Beach Club on Sept 12, '01. With all that happened on the 11th and the related delays and cancellations and such, we finally drove 1,300 miles to WDW and arrived on the 14th just behind the exiting hurricane. We found WDW mostly empty and actually walked in to Cinderella's breakfast!!!! We spent the next few days getting on to all rides as quickly as we could walk through the cues ( on TT, SpaceMT, Big Thunder MT, and RnRCoaster we rode several times in a row without getting off! ). I suspect this trip might be payback for the '01 trip.


By the way snowwhitemom - we love Dubya too!!! Here's to a Bush victory in '04 followed by a Thanksgiving celebration at WDW.

I just don't know if I can go to the Hall of Presidents if he doesn't win. I'll probably have to be carried out in a straight jacket if I try.

Maybe I won't have to worry about it!!

(how about all of us Bush fans meet for a celebration over Thanksgiving - we could all go to Hall of Presidents together!!)

This will be our 1st Thanksgiving at WDW. We are arriving late Wed night (11/24) and staying until Tuesday (11/30). I'm a teacher, so I'm stuck with visiting during the busy times of year... We've been over Easter, Christmas, New Years, Presidents week. How will Thankgiving week compare? We are expecting big crowds. We have a PS for Thanksgiving Dinner planned at Cape May Buffet... my favorite! We also have tickets to MVMCP for Sunday Nov 28th (very excited... never been before).
