Gavin,
I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it will be packed. It is a very busy weekend. Try to utilize FastPass and go when the park first opens. Enjoy all the holiday decorations and just be patient with the crowds. Have a wonderful trip.:)

How busy/crowded will DTD be? In all my years of going I have never been on Thanksgiving so I was wondering will DTD be busier than usual or more crowded, or will everyone be in the parks?

The entire resort (parks, hotels, DTD) will be busier then "normal."

I have gone at Thanksgiving. And YES it was crowded but if you go in knowing this and not expecting to get "everything" done. Get there are opening and stay until closing, maybe take a few hours in the afternoon go back to your hotel to nap or swim, or use this time to shop in DTD. Take advantage of FP. Go to disneyland.com and find out when the parades, shows, fireworks etc (whatever is important to you); this will give you a starting place to do your planning.

And most important, Relax, Take Your Time, and HAVE FUN!!

I was there last year on Thanksgiving day. It was VERY crowded, but manageable. We got there at opening and stayed until 1. We did what we wanted in Fantasyland and then hit some of the other areas. If you get there at opening and utilize fast pass, you can get quite a bit done. We left at 1 to eat at Goofy's Kitchen. I was suprised that it wasn't crowded at all there. Then we went back to the hotel for a good Thanksgiving nap. We came back at 5 and did a couple of shows and then hit the parade and fireworks. That was the most crowded! Sit very very early if you want a good seat. I'd suggest 2 to 2 1/2 hours early. They added a 3rd showing of Fantasmic at 11:30, so we went to that too. It was crowded at the last showing, but not sardine like.... Good luck and have fun!

We are going on Thanksgiving day and Friday. We know it will be busy but we are prepared! Just happy to be going!

Kelly

Do the crowds thin out the following week? We're planning for next year and would arrive the Monday after Thanksgiving.
