Can anyone tell me anything about Thanksgiving Day at DL?? I am thinking of changing my trips around, long story, but I would be there during that time, actually on Thanksgiving Day, I did read that the characters host a Thanksgiving Day buffet at the DL Hotel, has anyone ever been and if so, what is it like. Thank you in advance. :goodvibes

2 years ago we did Thanksgiving Day at DCA. We had Thanksgiving "dinner" at Storyteller's Cafe in the Grand Californian Hotel. It was so crazy crowded in there, even though it was buffet style and delicious food, (and we had ADR) our large party of 8 did not all end up eating at the same time. :sad2: We also had a VERY long wait past our reservation time, which was disappointing.

DCA itself was great. About 4 pm we decided to cruise on over to DL- OMG the lines just to get in were CRAZY long!!!!! :scared1: It seemed like every SoCal resident decided to pop on over after eating their Turkey dinner (and it was a blackout day, even!). We went on Space Mountain and left. Never again.

I wouldn't pay as much for that Thanksgiving dinner as we did, nor would I go over to DL. But DCA was fine, and I'd probably just have a turkey dinner at home the next day instead of Storyteller's. That was just our experience, and other people may have had a different one.

My family has been going every year for Thanksgiving since I can remember. Got married four years ago and now my DH is addicted, as well. Here are a few pointers... Go the week before Thanksgiving day. Then, Turkey day will be your busiest day. But, if you are there for the weekend following, then the whole weekend will be crowded. Take some rain panchos (buy em at walmart for about $1; in the park they cost about $7) cuz it usually rains at least one day. If not, you can use them on the rapids ride in DCA. Also, while it is warm during the day, the nights do cool off so take a light sweatshirt/jacket. As far as the food goes... not sure about the buffet dinners. It has become tradition to eat clam chowder bread bowls for our Turkey day dinner!!! So warm and yummy!!! Hope this helps a little. If you have any other questions, let me know...
