Thanksgiving best days to fly

So we are thinking of going right after Thanksgiving to Orlando. We usually don't travel around the holidays and if we do we have driven in the past. Southwest doesn't have there schedule out yet. So is it better to fly on the Saturday or the Sunday after Thanksgiving? TIA

The Sunday after Thanksgiving is the heaviest travel day of the year, so I say Saturday.

I agree with Sugardimples, Saturday would be the better choice. Travel on the Sunday after Thanksgiving will be crazy busy and expensive. If you have flexibility, Thanksgiving day would be a better choice. We traveled to Orlando last Thanksgiving day on Southwest and the flight was not full and the price was reasonable.

Thanksgiving Day is the best for flying. The weekend after is not so great, and that Sunday is just nutty!
Now, having said all that....about 6 yrs ago I was supposed to fly from Boston to Orlando the Monday after T-day. But, I got a cheaper fare for that Sunday! So, it happens. Not often, but it happens.

Thanks I can make Friday work so will try for that. It should be OK with DH work schedule as not too much happens on that Friday.
