Thanksgiving at HH?

Hi everyone!

We've just realized its time to start planning our points usage for next year (I'm usually pretty obsessive about planning....but 2 moves and a baby in one year has me a little off) and we've been talking about going to Hilton Head instead of WDW to save a bit of money and have a more relaxing vacation.

I'm just curious about a few things....
First of all, is it within reason to believe that I might be able to get a 1br or 2br at HH for Thanksgiving week at the 7 month window?
Secondly, how is the weather for swimming at Thanksgiving? I know I'm from Columbia and I should know...but we've only lived here a bit over a year and don't have a good handle on what to expect from the weather.

Also, if Thanksgiving week is out of the question for a non-HH member....which would you recommend for mild weather....early November or late March? Or is October so much better that its worth the extra points?

Thanks for any assistance! We visited HH for just one night last winter and enjoyed it...but I'd like to be able to use the pool and do more outside without having to bundle up. It was too cold to play horseshoes without gloves when we were there!

I was able to book for Thanksgiving week at the 7 month window this year with now problem. We have a 2 BR and I have been told that HH has mostly 2 BRs so you may have trouble getting a 1 BR but should be ok if you call right at the 7 month window (I did book day to day and am paying cash for Friday & Saturday nights - $124 DVC rate).

To answer your question we booked within the 7 mn window also for 2003 with no problem. we had a 2 bdrm. See the other thread further on down the page "Novemebr in HH" for some thoughts on the weather.

In 2003 the weather was warm one day and a cold front came through and we were in jackets and long pants the next. The pool is heated and I used it even in the cooler weather. Some of the outside activities were either canceled or moved inside because of the weather, but it was enjoyable anyway and very relaxing.

We also booked a 2 bedromm at the 7 month window for this year and last year. we had no problem. My sister booked a 1 bedroom at the 7 month window for this year and had no problem either. Good luck. We love HH at Thanksgiving!

We booked a 1 bdrm at HH for this Thanksgiving just before the 7 mo window opened and got the second to last one for Wed, Thurs & Friday. Saturday was much more open, so we waited until the 7 mo window to use our OKW points for that one night. So this year, when the 7 mo. window opened, there was only 1 1bdrm left.
