After dealing with all the Thanksgiving family craziness this yr., DH & I were thinking about avoiding it all next yr. & booking a stay at HH. Our DSs have no school for the entire week before Thanksgiving, so we can leave anytime during the week. Has anybody done this? Is it crazy to try to do a full turkey dinner? Is the resort crowded? HH is one of our 2 home resorts, so we can book at 11 mos., if needed. That would be next month--YIKES!

I was thinking of doing the same thing. I would probably order a T'giving meal from one of the grocery stores there. The only thing is - I was wondering about the weather there at that time of year. Anyone know? We have been to WDW for Thanksgiving several times and the weather is wonderful, but I know HHI would not be so warm. We are not big beach/pool people, but I don't want to freeze either.

We have spent Thanksgiving atHH twice and love it.Weather can be cold but also can be in 80's.Pools are open and great weather to golf or walk on beach. When we were there you could order deepfried turkey with all the trimmings at resort.

I always wanted to try deep fried turkey, of course, not enough to buy a deep fryer to make it myself. That would be a good compromise--get a deep fried turkey and make the fixings. One more plus to Thanksgiving in HH.

We just spent Thanksgiving at HH last week. The weather was great although we knew that we had much warmer than usual temps. We ordered a turkey through Disney for $105.00 it included a 14-16 pound roasted turkey, gravy, stuffing, strring bean casserole, mashed potaoes, choice of pie, stick of butter, dinner rolls and a choice of pie. This was our first Thanksgiving away and it was great! We played tag football on the beach at the beach house which was arranged by Disney, met Shadow the golden retriver and listened to stories of the low country while drinking warm spiced cider in Big Murggies Den. The kids swam in the heated pool and played shuffle board then we had a campfire. Overall a great way to say Thank you for the gifts we have reciveved.

Forgot to say that you can also get a deep fried turkey that they do right out by the pool and you smell it all day long! You can also order a ham from them. People also ordered from Piggly Wiggly right down the road at Shelter Cove Plaza.
