My wife and I started to discuss making our first visit to DL since our kids were born. We've been kicking around the way of combining the trip with her passionate disdain for Thanksgiving (her dream has always been to take a vacation during Thanksgiving week) :) . Our girls will be 5 and 3 1/2 by the time Thanksgiving rolls around this year. Does anyone out there have any experiences they would like to share in terms of Thanksgiving in DL? Is the park very crowded on Thanksgiving itself? I have heard the Friday after Thanksgiving is very busy. We're thinking about heading down to SoCal the Monday of that week and getting 4-day Hopper passes for a Tuesday-Friday visit to the parks and then heading home on Saturday of that week. I'm hoping that Tuesday and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week are not too terribly busy. Any feedback/advice would be much appreciated!

The Grand Californian is our ideal place to stay, but I'm wondering if the price difference is worth it. I'd love to stay at the closest place to the two parks, especially so the girls can take breaks during the day without getting too horribly wiped out.

I've been on Thankgiving Day once many years ago and it was very crowded. I generally avoid that weekend. Since more and more CA schools are taking the whole week off, it's getting more crowded during that week. Last year I went on the Tuesday before Thankgiving and it was fairly crowded. Not wall to wall people and most lines were managable, but there was still a lot of people.
