We'll be visiting DL from 20-30 November 09. We don't live in the US so have never celebrated Thanksgiving before.

We plan on being in DL on TG day - does DL do anything special on that day? Do the restaurants put on a special TG meal for example?

We'll also be returning the following day for DS's birthday. I've heard that this is a very busy time of year - is it historically super super busy or is it actually quite manageable?

We spent Thanksgiving at DL in 2007 and had a wonderful time! The Christmas decorations were up, HM and IASW were both decked out for the holidays, and it was a very magical time! Santa was in both parks as well.

We had Thanksgiving dinner at GK. There were other holiday meals available. You can call 60 days in advance for PS reservations. Keep in mind - holiday meals are considerably more expensive.

We found the park manageable, but crowded.

Have a great time!

Thanksgiving week is VERY busy. Get to the park early stock up on fastpasses & ride non-fastpass rides, plan a mid-day break/pool/rest & go back later to use the fastpasses.

There is usually a special buffet at the Disneyland Hotel restaurant on Thanksgiving Day -- around $60 a person -- I think....

It is very very busy. The only other time I remember it being that crowded is at the 4th of July.

Maybe it was because of the downturn in the economy, but when we were at the parks this past Thanksgiving weekend, the crowds were very manageable. In fact, we were kind of shocked at how much we were able to do on Saturday.

We were there for Thanksgiving in 2006 and didn't experience heavy crowds until Thanksgiving day and the day after. We left on the Friday after Thanksgiving so didn't have any problems with crowds. Up until Thanksgiving day it seemed very managable. We had our Thanksgiving meal at the Disneyland Hotel buffet which was so worth the money. It felt like a special event and the food was fantastic.

We pretty much go to DL every year during Thanksgiving week, only once staying for Thanksgiving Day. From our opinion, it does get crowded, but we saw it much more crowded last week during spring break and also this past 4th of July.

Can't get enough of the holiday decorations that are up at Thanksgiving time - it's a great way to start getting in the holiday spirit!:goodvibes
