Hello everyone!

Been absent from these boards for awhile cause it seems like every time I try to plan a trip, it falls apart. This time I refuse to let that happen!

Couple of weeks ago, I got a wild hair up you know where and blurted out to my DS #2 (who's soon to be 21 yo), do you want to go to Disney World? He said, "Duh mom!". Next question I posed to him is when. We're both in college (yes, 41 yrs old and a sophomore at CU Denver AND working full time) and the only time that would work for us in around Thanksgiving. Neither one of us would be in class at that time and I'd only have to take a couple of days of vacation leave. We thought about August, but we would be moving from our current place to a totally new place (to be determined) so that time wouldn't work.

So Thanksgiving of 2016 was created.

My question is, who has gone over Thanksgiving? I know, it's going to be crowded! Am I going to regret going during this time? Last time I went, it was mid-August of 2008 with my DS #1 (DS#2 didn't want to go). DS #2 hasn't been since 1998. Obliviously, a lot has changed for him and I know things have changed since last I went.

My biggest concern is not having a fun time due to crowds, but like I said, this is the only time that works for the both of us and with my leave balance at work. Any suggestions would be extremely helpful as I have never gone during this time. We plan on staying from Saturday to Saturday at Riverside, no rental car, DDP with 6 or 7 day non-park hoppers.

TIA!
Teresa

Congratulations on being in College!

and yes a lot has changed since 1998

We have done 3 Thanksgiving trips over the years, including 1977 on our honeymoon! Yes its likely to be crowded, but we found that the days before Thanksgiving are usually much better then the days after Thanksgiving. So we do the MK and Epcot before and HS and AK after Thanksgiving

We usually take a mid trip day and make it a pool at the resort day and save 1 park admission day. M wife enjoy exploring all over WDW, including other resorts.

Do your planning and FP+ and ADR's.

If you looking for a Thanksgiving dinner, all the restaurants have Turkey that day.

If money permits, we always do park hoppers, it makes thing easier if the parks are crowded and you want to rearrange park days.

I hope you have a great trip.

It's crowded immediately lowering the sunday after thanksgiving. Lately, it's not more crowded than any other trip I've taken. I don't really see disney having low crowd times anymore and if they do, out come of the weekday arrive tomorrow discounts like they have going on right now.

We went 4 years ago and it was not bad. We spent the day of the holiday at AK. Be sure to be at EPCOT on Black Friday for Holidays Around the World and CP. Also take time to resort hop. If you go to every park at rope drop you will be fine. Definitely get park hoppers. For our Thanksgiving Week trip this year we had to mix and match our days because of dining availability since we have to do all TS because of food allergies with others in my party so a lot of days we start at 1 park and then have to leave late afternoon to get to another park for dinner.
