Beverly Lynn:

DId you say on another thread that you would wait to book airfare atTHanskgiving? I have been watching airfares and Iwould really like to take kids down from 11/21-11/26, but was afraid I wouldn't be able to get seats at all. ANy help would be appreciated!!! THanks!

I started Tday airfare shopping in February. The only thing I noticed was that the seats were filling up. So in May, I booked it. The rates never dropped, but kept going up. The flight is now full. This was for an 11/21 flight out of ISP. What made it worse was Delta cancelled the non-stop flight and I had to change it last week to SW for even more money.
My advice - book it if it's available!

NOPE! Thanksgiving is the heaviest travel time of the year. those book fast! I would buy now and then when the fare goes down get the voucher. the sunday after thanksgiving is hte single most heavily traveled time of the year!

Beverly is 100% right on that one! We booked back in February for Thanksgiving, and the prices have gone up. We are flying the Tuesday before and returning the Monday after in order to avoid the wort travel days of the year. I would suggest returning on Monday rather than Sunday if it's an option for you. It was also a LOT cheaper, what we saved in airfare more than paid for the extra nights room and meals.
