I just want to acknowledge what an awesome CM Michelle in Disney Travel Ground Services is! :grouphug: Without her help our family would have missed the ship for our first ever cruise on the Disney Magic 11/20.

Our plane out of Evansville, Indiana had failure on the back up system, had to pump in more cabin air, spilled fuel and resulted in us being put on another airline which arrived in Orlando at 4:44pm. We all know the ship leaves at 5pm and the alternate flight wasn't going to cut it. :guilty: I got on my cell phone, called WD Travel and got Michelle. (By the way, I could not find the phone number on any of my official travel info, but did find it in my trusty Passporters Guide.)

Michelle was quick to resolve the problem. First, though she had to determine if the original flight was indeed cancelled. When I reported that the original flight was boarding at that very minute and that we WOULD be on that plane...3 hours late...she found a connecting flight from Charlotte, NC for us and would leave a message with full details on my phone.
When we touched down in Charlotte, sure enough as promised was a message. :cheer2: Not only had Michelle confirmed the flight, but she was able to get our bags ticketed directly to Orlando...we thought we'd have to reclaim and recheck them in Charlotte as Evansville was only able to check them that far. Michelle was able to arrange it so we could go to the nearest gate upon arrival in Charlotte and get our boarding passes, which as a bonus, Michelle got us into first class seats :cheer2: She was not sure if the DCL rep would meet us at the gate due to security measures in Orlando.
Well, another :cheer2: for Michelle! When we arrived in Orlando, the DCL rep was indeed waiting for us at the gate! He confirmed the number of bags we had, radioed to DCL ground CM to aquire them, received conformation the CM had our bags and were in route to the terminal before we arrived at the bus. Another family of four was waiting and then we (a total of 7) were whisked away to the terminal.
When we arrived the CMs met our family and the other at the door, escorted us to the check-in, and then onto the ship. It was 4:30pm.

Okay, so we missed our embarkation photo, being announced onto the ship, the sailaway party (with fellow DISers), and the wonderful lifeboat drill, but thanks to Michelle, we were at least on the most magical ship in the world and we had the best vacation ever!

So, again a mega sized THANK YOU to Michelle in ground services! Without her the magic would never have happened! :grouphug:

I actually contacted DCL via email to commend Michelle on the excellent job she did for us. I have not heard back though...might contact them again.
