I think this is a great move by SW. The 10 flight credits is terrific.

For all Rapid Rewards® Members, we recognize that your normal flying behavior has been interrupted, limiting progress you may have been making toward qualification for A-List, A-List Preferred, and Companion Pass. For that reason, we are giving all Rapid Rewards Members a "boost" of 15,000 tier qualifying points and 10 flight credits toward A-List and A-List Preferred status, and 25,000 Companion Pass qualifying points and 25 flight credits toward Companion Pass status.

Are the 15,000 tier qualifying points the same points you use to book a flight?

This is from an online chat I had with a rapid rewards representative:

Tier qualifying points are not added as part of your regular account balance to redeem. Tier qualifying points are points that Customers earn generally based on purchased flights or spending from the Southwest Rapid Reward Credit card issued by our Partner Chase. These points help you to earn tier status such as A-List, A-List Preferred and Companion pass. These points are a separate bank and you cannot use them to purchase flights.

In other words no you can’t redeem these points for travel.

Thank you for posting that!
It explains why I could not find them on my account

So do we have to ask for the flight credits or so they appear. Don’t see in my account yet.

This is a sentence from the email I got from SW:

These adjustments will happen automatically and will be reflected in your Southwest Rapid Rewards My Account page over the coming weeks.

Interesting. I wonder how that will show up in your account. For example for CP, Will they just be there now, or show up after you reach 100K other points. I signed up for a SW credit card in February with a 75K bonus offer. I didn’t expect to reach CP status. But with this bonus, I should only need 25K to reach it. Still not sure I can spend that much, but I will be giving it a shot!

Think of it this way: SW is NOT giving you points that can be used to purchase airfare - they're essentially reducing the point requirement/trip requirement needed to qualify for the Companion Pass, A-List and A-List Preferred status. Instead of needing to earn 35000 points or 25 flights to reach the A-List, you now only need 20,000 points or 15 flights to qualify. Similar for Companion Pass. Those qualifications still have to happen within the calendar year.

In reality, this isn't going to result in much, if any, increase in the number of A-List and/or Companion Pass qualifications. This is Southwest taking care of it's best customers by making it easier for them to continue to qualify at the levels they normally achieve every year.

Thanks for the clarification!

Some airlines are extending status a year. I believe American is 1/2022.

I am going crazy trying to make sense of what my travel funds are going to look like and when they will expire! We received 3 - $200 LUV vouchers Feb 8, 2020 due to a mechanical issue on our flight. These are scheduled to expire 2/8/21. They are not passenger specific.
I used $178 to purchase a RT Florida to Connecticut for my daughter in June so she and I could go to NYC for a couple of shows. Shows are being moved to late August instead but not sure of exact date so canceling the June flight. Will these funds go back on the original non-specific LUV voucher expiring 2/8/21 or to travel funds linked to my daughter and expiring a year after purchase (2/24/21) OR the new extended date of 9/7/22?
THEN I used some of the rest of the LUV vouchers on 3/12/20 to purchase tickets to Florida for my grandson & I for 9/7-9/12/20. Those might also get cancelled. How will the funds be returned?
NOT TO MENTION I still have $145 left from those original LUV vouchers!!!
I think I’m gonna call SWA in a couple of weeks and beg someone to sort this all out for me!!
