.....really,nothing. I read an article in the Memphis paper last Friday that because of high fuel costs and less than expected travelers- FA will drop all flights out of Memphis except for DEN beginning DEC 15.

I had booked a flight on FA for myself and DD-DSIL to MCO in Feb 08.
The article mentioned that since FA was the only other direct flight to MCO, the rates on Northwest will go up, probably very soon. That same morning I hopped on NW website, found a R/T to MCO for $206. Good price for MEM.

I called FA that day to see about a refund, and was informed that refunds or placement on other airlines will not begin till later, and I need to wait to be contacted by phone.

I checked NW this morning and the same flight is already $10 higher.

I'm glad I booked when I did.

Wouldn't you think when FA made this news public, they would at that time have rebooking/refund availability in place?

In a way I am better off.. better departure times on both ends of the trip and for only a little more money.

But I feel for those who wait to hear from FA.
Who knows how they will end up getting to MCO. By way of ATL or some other connector.

I know business is business, but they could have done it better!

as long as they have your money in their pocket they are not going to be in a big hurry to give it back...cha ching.....

If this makes you feel any better (and I'm sure it doesn't), They announced this AM on the news that Frontier was cancelling flights from Sacramento to Cabo for the same reasons....

I do feel for you a little, but I can't get a non-stop to MCO at all...ever. I always have to make a stop somewhere. It's not so bad. :thumbsup2

Just curious, where do you connect?
I imagine it's two long flights from Sacramento.

Buy the way, I love the Sacramento area :cloud9:

Perdido, I hear ya! I was so excited when Frontier came! Finally, an end to Northwest's monopoly on non-stops from MEM to MCO! They stayed just long enough for us to get one trip in, and now they're leaving! I'm NOT happy at all, because NWA's prices will jump right back up to the crappy $266 fare they had before Frontier came.

DH said, "CRAP!!!! Now we have to start driving back to Nashville to fly on Southwest! That sucks!!!"

I'm with ya EpcotGuy ;) we too fly out of Sacramento and have always had connecting flights, the closest we come to non stop is an L.A connections:rotfl:

We usually fly southwest because they don't seem to change your flight last minute as most other airlines do ( cough...AMERICAN) we have connected through most states in our many trips to Orlando, St Louis, Dallas, Denver, Chicago, Kansas City ..etc.. The trick is to connect where the weather is more favorable at the time of year your flying.

I have connected in the following cities from Sacramento: Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Phoenix (wow, seems like a lot of trips!). When I lived in the Bay Area and flew out of SFO, I also had flights through Nashville, Charlotte, St. Louis and Indianapolis.

Wow! It sounds like you and keliblue have made connections at just about every hub airport there is!

I forgot to mention, I will be flying Frontier for my trip in 14 days. Last year when I flew United through Denver, I missed my connecting flight because they had to de-ice the plane in Sacramento (and that was a cluster $@*% - it took over 90 min). No problems at all in Denver (where it was snowing). :sad2:
