I actually became a new member in March of this year but I just returned from my first trip home. My family had been to WDW a few times and walked past the DVC kiosks many times but never gave them any thought until I went to a conference at WDW a year ago this week. I met a colleague at the conference who had been a DVC member for several years. He told me how much he liked it and got me interested. I started doing some research on the internet a few weeks later and found the DIS. I have been lurking ever since learning all I could until I finally joined DVC and booked our first 2 trips home.
Thanks to all of the information from the wonderful people on the DIS Boards, I purchased a 150 points in the BCV from The Timeshare Store (great group of people to work with) and 150 points in the VWL from Disney. Because of the use years and banked points I was able to get 600 points to use this year.
For our first trip home, we stayed in the WL 4 days and the BCV 4 days. I took my DSis's family with us. We stayed in a 1 BR and my DSis stayed in a 2 BR (she has 7 kids; one is a 2 yr old). We will have to do two 2 BR's next trip. One of the main reasons I bought into the DVC was to be able to take my DSis's family with us at least every other year. We had a wonderful stay. Both resorts were great and all of the rooms were clean with no problems. The spilt stay worked very well, our luggage was moved with no problems and we were able to get into both rooms by 4:00. The CM's at the BCV were very friendly and the kids loved SAB. My DW was skeptical when I first discussed buying into the DVC but after last week she wants to stay in a 1 or 2 BR every trip.
I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to all the people that take time to post and answer questions on the DIS Boards each day. You all definitely helped me make the best decisions for our family and we look forward to many more great trips to WDW. We already have a trip booked for the week before Christmas and can't wait to get back.
