Had my first Sprint Tri Saturday and even with the wave action in the Gulf of Mexico, I had no issues. Did manage to swallow enough water to lower the water level of the Gulf. :rotfl:

The ear plugs (wax type), change of eating menu that morning and nose clip took care of any upset feeling I previously had due to wave action and head rotation.

You all ROCK. THANK YOU for helping a new "Triathlete"!!!!!

Awesome! I actually was just checking the WISH board to see if there was any update!:goodvibes
Glad you got the issues cleared up so the swim was more pleasant. And I'll assume the bike and run were fine as well?

Dummy me, I forgot to mention the results.....

7 in my 60 to 64 age

6th out of water. I was last in the water and thought I would be last of all men but there was still others behind so I ACTUALLY passed some swimmers. Not too bad for a guy with a right shoulder that should be replaced according to my ortho. DR.

1st in bike

4th in run and 4th overall

Got to work on transition as everyone says because I could have moved up 1 place if I was better. Will improve for Sept. 1st upcoming Sprint!!!!

Congrats! That's fantastic!

Nice John! So glad the swimming worked out for you. Tri's are so much fun!

Again, thanks to all. :thumbsup2

Duane, it was the Englewood YMCA Tri. I saw your review of last year's event on BT and it was lots of FUN. Next is Venice with a planned much better swim. Have to work on strength and breathing for the swim so tomorrow it's back into the Gulf early AM for a full length of the beach or more. Got out today with a strong 12 year younger friend for a 40 mile ride with him and 50 total. Keeps an old guy honest when it comes to maintaining the higher speeds even if I'm drafting with my heart rate at 166bpm into the winds.

I like that race John. Just couldn't fit it in this year. I was going to do Siesta Key too but decided against it. Our coach puts on the Captiva Sprint in September, you ought to come down and race it.

I am pretty much the oldest person on our rides too. I can keep up with a lot of them but some times we go out and they are taking it easy but I'm working my butt off just to stay in the line. They are resting and I'm barely hanging in there :) Makes me stronger I guess.
