Based on what I have read here on different threads and in response to some of my own questions, I just booked the Hard Rock Hotel for June, actually arriving on DD's 11th birthday and that is where she and her sister requested to stay. Since hubby and I are both "of a certain age" (we remember bell bottoms and hip huggers from the first time around) the atmosphere appealed to us as well. Not that the PBH isn't right up our alley too . Looking forward to the music and the change of atmosphere. Realistically, can dinig reservations be made this early (like Disney) or do the Universal restaurants not allow them this far out? Our trip is June 19-23 of this year. Also, just what will the Loews Blue card get me? Possible room upgrades/views? Thanks in advance!

Good choice! HRH is my favorite of the on-site hotels. I can't help you with the dining questions as that is not my area of expertise. I can however help you with your LoewsFirst question. Im assuming you are booked in a garden view room. If there is a 2 queen deluxe or a pool view available when you check-in and you are paying a qualifying rate, they will upgrade you at no additional charge. Plus you will get a welcome amenity of your choice and a late check-out of 2PM if available.

I need restaurant advice! On our previous US/IOA trip the girls were young, we wound up offsite (across Kirkman, think its' a Doubletree now) and ate counterservice in the parks. We are blessed with good girls, no wild children here. At Disney we eat table service pretty much all the time. I remember eating at Mels, but that's all. Is there a comparable TS to say Sci Fi dine in? We are pretty amiable at lunch, but dinner we like to eat fairly well. I was reading in one of my Disney/US books about the restaurants at City Walk, Nascar, Margaritaville, etc. We know the hard rock menu, but something with a good steak, maybe seafood, etc. Mythos sounds good, where can I find a menu? For that matter, where can I find menus for all of the restaurants?
