We have always gone to Tusker House for lunch at AK.
This time we tried Flame Tree BBQ due to many good reports I read here.
We aren't into BBQ but I got the BBQ Chicken Salad and it was delicious and not too BBQ'y.
Also, loved the Key Lime pie! I thought this was as good as served in any of the upscale restaurants.
The seating area in the back by the pool just blew me away. It's absolutely gorgeous! I would love to have a backyard like that. Beautiful pool with waterfalls running into and out of it under wooden bridges, exotic plants and flowers, lily pads. It definitely has an exotic asian garden feel to it.
Ducks (including a baby) and white ibis(?) were there and happy to get handouts from us. (These are not park birds but rather wild ones that found there way there, there was no notice that we saw saying not to feed them, also we have birds as pets so we know what is okay and what isn't.)
If sitting right by the pool, where we sat, the view is not marred by anything. However, if you go to the very back areas which look out over the lagoon you see the construction of Expedition Everest - scaffolding, cranes and the new walkway with people going on it to get a close up of the construction. Not a very pretty sight at the moment. I hope it looks better when it's done and the sounds of screaming riders don't carry over the lagoon to the back dining areas of Flame Tree.
It was a wonderful oasis. It probably helped that it was extremely low attendance that day and we ate later than normal lunchtime so there were very few diners around.
I would still go to Tusker House since it is a great spot and great food but the back area of Flame Tree is just so beautiful.
