So I called my doc yesterday for a prescription which I must have saturday, no if, ands or buts. So I called the pharmacy today to make sure the doc called it in and I could get it. Yes, the doctor did his job yesterday but there is allegedly a problem with insurance so they can't fill it. So I asked, why didn't you call me yesterday or even today (I called at 4:45 p.m.) so I could get it resolved? A lot of hems, haws and a whole lotta nothing. What if it was medication for something which keeps me alive? I'm glad I decided to call b/c if I don't have it saturday, I'm in trouble.

I would go back and talk to the pharmacy. I know my pharmacy will "lend" us enough to get us through. Then just take them out when they do the actual refill.

That's the problem with these drug store "chains". They don't give a hoot about you. They are also driving the mom & pop pharmacies out of business. It's a shame. My insurance forces me to use a mail order pharmacy. It's not right.

my story is similar only this time it was the Dr.

I was running out of my arthritis meds on Weds. When I went for Bloodwork on Tuesday I brought along a sheet with my blood pressure readings which she had requested since they weren't sure if my neck problem was the cause of my BP going up (pain does increase your bp). Or the BP was causing me the neck pain. Turns out the BP was high because of the pain...... but I'm getting ahead of myself.

By Weds I would be totally out so I called Tuesday afternoon to remind them that I needed a new perscription as mine had run out. No call back.

Weds I call, left a message on the voice mail of the nurse to call me back.

Thursday - I'm in terrible pain, I call back, the receptionist tells me that if I don't get a call back by 3 to call again. I work as a receptionist in a busy office. I barely have time to pee let alone make another phone call out.

Friday a.m., I have been without meds for 3 days in terrible pain and still no call. I tell the receptionist I have called 4 days in a row and I'm not a happy camper. She puts me on hold explains to the nurse what has been going on. The nurse gets on the phone and tells me she'll review my chart, talk to the Dr. and call me in the afternoon.

She called and left a message on my home phone at 5pm that they called in a perscription for me. BIG FREAKIN DEAL. I have one fill and 1 refill and then I'm done and I get the joy of starting this all over again.

I have an appt with a new Dr. but not till February - the earliest I could get it.

This whole non-call back happened a few years ago when I had a breast cancer scare - my mother died from breast cancer. I thought it was a fluke but the dr wanted to know why I kept calling the office??? Hello, you left a message on my voice mail that I had a problem with a mamogram? I have been going to this Dr for 27 years, I"m done. I just want enough meds to be pain free till February and then I'm otta there!

I vote for the see if they can get you enough until the problem is resolved. Our pharamcy does this as well. Overall I like them but they wouldn't have called either. We have had this happen and they just wait til you come in to tell you there is a problem. Not very helpful.

CVS has done that to me before. I waited 2 days to pick up an Rx just to find out there were "insurance" issues and no one had called me or the Dr. I was furious and they knew it. :furious:

I had insurance issues with a rx a month or so ago. I called to see if an rx had been filled. Was told "no, because your insurance wont cover it for another 3 days". What? apparently you can only have one pin worm pill every 60 days. I said, well, ok then, how much will it be to just pay for it? $13. Ok great, fill it! It would have been $10 with insurance. I think I can pay the extra $3. It really bugs me that these people can't think past whats in front of them.

I'm sorry to hear there are similar stories of incompetence with something that is so important. They said my prescription will be ready tomorrow - I hope so!
