Just a quick thanks to everyone that replied to my questions re: our London trip. We got back a few weeks ago (just NOW getting caught up on laundry, etc.), the photos are developed and in their albums and the trip is a memory now.

We had a blast and your comments were so appreciated. I was going to take my son to Florida to swim with the dolphins for his 16th birthday, but he's decided that he wants to go back to London instead.

The cultural atmosphere was tremendous as were the people we came in contact with. Thank you again for helping us have a vacation of a lifetime!!

 Hi Jane - so pleased to hear you and your family had such a great time.

Hope the weather was kind to you - or did you hit us when we were having our traditional British summer weather:umbrella:

I'm guessing it was the traditional British weather - rained just about everyday. Not hard rain (until Friday before we left) just drizzle here & there - we just walked in it like we would at WDW - put up the brellies & hoods and went wherever. The only day it didn't rain a drop was the day we went to Stonehenge. We took a tour w/Astral Travel and were allowed to walk inside the circle, etc. - it was incredible!!!

Thanks again - we really can't wait to come back!!!

Hi Jane.

Glad to hear you had a great vacation in London and that the rain didn't spoil your trip.:umbrella:

Ahhhh that rain that gets you really wet........

I'm glad you had a good time. Was everything as you'd expected or were there any surprises?

I must admit I like to hear when someone has had a good time over here as I live 10 minutes from Hampton Court and take it for granted and just dream about being in the USA. I suppose the grass is always greener .........

Hi Libby --

Everything was just different, but the same, if you know what I mean. We don't live in a big city or go into Philadelphia (near us) that often, so staying in a big city like London was fun. It was just different than Philly.

The people that we met that worked around there seemed to me, to be much more laid back than here. I didn't realize how "wound up" the people are where I live. Very eye opening and a VERY difficult habit to break, especially when everyone one you work with is sooo intense. It's gotten to the point where I've got a meeting with the 3 partners of the firm next week to "discuss" my attitude with them. Basically, I just don't care THAT much about their stupid business anymore (lawyers). I used to take care of just about everything - kinda like the mom of the firm - but since I went on vacation, I came back basically like "it's not my business - if you don't want to do x y or z to take care of your clients or your other staff members - OK with me - I just work here." I realized how much I had been taking on and how much it was NOT being appreciated, rather taken for granted. OK - enough 'bout that.

Taylor and I were able to get just about anywhere with the tube and walking - not something that can be done here. Everywhere we would walk (and we did plenty) was just one oohh or awe after another. Loved the free museums (NEVER see anything free here.)

Seeing Westminster Abbey and Parliment for the first time really brought me to tears since I knew we were finally there. Loved walking around that area w/the Eye, Globe, St. Paul's, walking over the bridges, people watching.

My son loved it so much that he'd rather go back for another visit when he's 16 than swim with the dolphins. We've had the swim with the dolphins thing going since he was about 8 or 9, so that tells you how much he really did llike it.

In a nutshell, that was the best vacation I've ever had. I love going to WDW, but traveling there has really opened my eyes about trying different places/things for vacations. If I could only have more vacation time and a raise - that would be utopia. Unfortunately, I think I may be getting the boot - please say a prayer for me that it doesn't happen, but if it does may be the best thing for me.

Thanks again for your help and suggestions - they were truly appreciated!!

Who'd have thought a holiday to London could change ones attitide to life!! There is a saying "Work to live don't live to work!"

I hope everything goes well.
