I can't log onto my facebook account without having 2-7 game / gift requests. People are giving me dresses for the sorority life, or soybean seads for farmville, and now theres some rollercoster thing. I don't want to play these games, nor do I even know HOW to play them, yet I always take them and send something back because I don't want to be rude!!!!
Seriously, who has time or the interest to sit there and plant a fake farm???? And darnit, my strawberries died on me!!! The people sending these to me are anywhere from 30-40!

I have the same vent! When I get on FB I have snowball fights waiting for me and presents if I answer a million ?'s Ill get my gift I don't care for playing the games myself. I don't get why its so popular I get on there to update what going on with me for any of my friends who want to know. I will comment a couple times a day on peoples profiles, but thats it.

Strawberries mature in 4 hours and then die within the next 4 hours - waaay too much commitment to have to remember to go back in less than 8 hours. Much easier with peas - 24 hours to mature, 24 hours to die. Bonus, lots of cash and 3 xp points when planting

I had to put a few people on ignore because I would have a whole page of nothing but what they are doing on sorority life or farm ville. I don't mind one or two, but some people have dozens a day!

Easy enough to resolve...just click the "ignore all invites from this friend" and you won't get anymore. There is nothing rude about not wanting to participate...don't send back any gifts if you don't want to play.

I also have one girl that friended me - she went to my highschool for one semester!!! She IMs and PMs me on there all the time telling me about her life, etc - sorry, don't mean to sound like a meanie, but I knew you for 2 months over 10 years ago... I don't really care (we weren't even friends, just aquantiences)! Then she sent me some game where we wanted me to answer questions about HER - I don't know her - how could I answer questions about her!!!!??? LOL

If you don't want to be inundated by requests, you do have the option of blocking all requests from certain applications. Most people are probably just sending gifts or requests to everybody on their friend list and they won't even notice (or care) if you don't respond.

You can ignore the applications rather than the people if you just want to avoid the farmville or sorority life news and want to continue to get updates about the people themselves. Just click on the little icon next to the post about the game and it should give you the option to block posts about that game.

I know it's rude but I ignore just about every request that is sent to me. I don't care about fake farms, mafias and fishbowls. If I wanted to play games, I would go to Pogo, not Facebook..LOL

I just send gifts to everyone on my list, its faster that way. Gosh I've never thought of people getting annoyed by that though. If I don't play something I simply ignore the gift. It's really not something to get annoyed over I think.

What happened was..... This person sent me a friend request, but I didn't recognize the name at all (she just has her married name on there). I'm on a weight loss site where people have friended me from on facebook, but I don't know their last names off hand so its happened before... make sence?? So anyway, I PMed the person asking where I knew them from, and she PMed me back, telling me all about her life, etc. I just thought it would be rude if I didn't buddy her after that, but now I'm kind of regreting it! Oh well, as long as she doesn't ask me for my address or phone number, I think I'll be OK.

I find that annoying too. I absolutely refuse to allow Farmville to publish to my wall and in turn everybody else's wall everytime I do something. It is crazy how much crap that generates! You found a reindeer, publish it? You found a chicken, publish it? You want to thank your friends, publish it? You picked your nose and ate it, publish it? Oh wait, wrong thread.

Besides, that just lets everybody know exactly how much time you are spending playing games

I admit, I play the games. Of course, I'm on bedrest and other than school work and watching tv, I have nothing to do. It keeps me entertained and I enjoy making goofy patterns on my farm.

If you don't like the invites and gifts, just block requests.. it's pretty easy.
