Thanks and have a ? about Disney Dollars

First of all, would like to express my thanks for all the invaluable information I have found on this board. You all are great! We leave on the 19th and I have tried to do some quick last minute planning and have a question about purchasing Disney Dollars at the resort. Can I use an AMEX gift card (says debit on it) to do this? I have saved this card for use at the park, but the Disney Dollars sound like a good way to go, and can be broken up this way. Hope someone knows about this.

I dont know why you wouldnt be able to. I know you can buy them with a regular debit card.

Because it is a debit card, it should be fine. Disney Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase Disney Dollars though. So, it is smarter to purchase Disney Dollars with your AmEx gift card. Have a fun time!!

Good to know this. I thought perhaps my kids could use their gift cards to purchase Disney dollars if they wanted to shop at BABW. Thanks.

My DDs and DD's BF received Disney Gift Cards from me for Christmas...when we went to the park in January, they found they couldn't use the gift cards for Disney Dollars! They were hoping to use the dollars for churros, frozen lemonade etc but ended up using their gifts cards in the shops. I don't really understand why they can't be used for Disney Dollars as it would be an even exchange

Thank you! I am like everybody, just like to have an idea of what to expect. I liked the idea of the Disney Dollars since you can use them at the carts etc. where you can't use the gift card. Also, this way whatever amount of the dollars I purchased could be divvied up. I appreciate your help!
