Thanks, America

I think we should all follow Alan's advice - "Don't feed the trolls".

I use the power of my 500th post to stop this sillyness.

:wizard:

Done!

You're right, thanks for reminding me! :)

Obviously a mountain troll - having looked them up on the Harry Potter Lexicon website the description seems to fit:

"The Mountain Troll is very stupid. It stands twelve feet tall, with gray skin, a lumpy body, and flat horny feet. It exudes a powerfully awful smell, "a mixture of old socks and the kind of public toilet no one seems to clean." Its nose is full of what looks like lumpy, gray glue: troll boogers"

So, if he appears on the DIS again, stick your wand up his nose :wizard:

Thanks for that Tim.
I now have that rather unpleasant image locked in my brain! :rotfl2:

Personally I prefer not to have my wand covered in troll bogies. They are a devil to wash off.

Just noticed that my previous post was my 800th.

Must be some sort of obscure record. My 800th and Cochise's 500th post to the same thread.

Do we get a prize?

I hope we can all stick together on this...

I traveled to New York and Orlando in November 2001, I admit I was very scared but loved my trip and have been to orlando every year since

I am equally scared to go into london now as well, infact leeds seems to be where the terroists are from and I live only ten miles away, thinking they coulda been around me gives me the creeps.

My fear about london will be short lived I expect the same with leeds,

We like americans at 9/11 just need support and not arguments between us, we have all felt the pain these mad men bring

Dear UK Disers,

For what it's worth, here's one American who would come to England at the drop of a hat, anytime, anyplace, except for tomorrow -- because that's when I go to Disney :earsboy: !!!!

I love, love,  your wonderful country and I cannot wait to return. I saw Bath in the pouring, pouring rain :umbrella: :umbrella: and I thought it was one of the most beautiful places ever. I do see however why you all do like a taste of the Florida sun now and then. :sunny:

And gentlemen, congratulations on your 800th and 500th posts. ;)

Well done for your 500th and 800th posts.

We went to WDW for Halloween in October 2001 just after 9/11 and during the anthrax scare. We were to last to stay at Port Orleans before they closed it (temporarily of course). The staff were so sad not knowing if they had jobs to go to. However the majority of the guests at this time were from the UK (all with their obligatory England, Arsenal and Man U tee shirts on!!) So many US citizens stayed away unfortunately. Even Halloween was cancelled and only the kids could wear their costumes at Pleasure Island.

The parks were just so empty and we were allowed to ride splash mountain several times without getting off (this at 1.00 p.m in the afternoon for example!) The place was really quite and we rode everything time and time again.

Lets hope that London will pick up as well as WDW has as it really is soooo busy now. We just came back last month and the lines were soooo long!!
But I would rather it be busy and share the park with everyone than just a few.

Can't wait to go back again

Another American unafraid to travel to the UK here. :wave2: I hope to be travelling there October 2006 if I can find a travelling companion. I just don't want to go alone. Aside from all the usual tourist stuff, I hope to visit Calne and Wotten-Under-Edge while I'm there - that's where some of my ancestors were from in the 1400-1500's.

I too went to WDW in OCt 2001 and it was so empty. I never saw it so empty! I met a lot of people from the UK on that trip for some reason.

On Sept 10th - two of the terrorists who flew out of Boston (including the one they think was the head of it all - Mohammed Atta) stayed in South Portland, Maine over night and went to the Portland International Jetport from their hotel. That hotel is 4 miles from my home. They went to the Wal-Mart, the Pizza Hut and stayed overnight in our city. I can't drive by the hotel without thinking of them still! It just gives me the creeps to think they stayed here!

Take care UK!

I know what you mean, one of my clients ( a very nice gentleman) is Osama Bin Ladens ex school teacher (in Saudi) and I always think its a bit creepy that he might just 'know' things

Hi Kath

I live 10 miles from Wotton-Under-Edge. It's a very pretty little place. If you need help with anything, drop me an e-mail.

Believe me, you cannot live in NYC and be a coward!

It is wrong to judge everyone because of one higher ups actions. If you feel this way about us, then don't come back.

I posted my prayers for London last week.

:rolleyes1

Immediately after 9/11 there was a US travel warning posted on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office travel site. As an official body this is something they have to issue when there is a perceived risk to british travellers. Lots of brits still travelled to the US (we did). I don't remember lots of US citizens shouting "cowards" at us at the time..?? :sad2:
