Thankful SUPER GOOFS in NOVEMBER

Good and bad news here..

The good news, I finally know WHY I have been feeling nauseous/bloated on and off for the last 3+years.

The bad news is I have to have my gall bladder out! :scared1:

Wasn't feeling much pain at all with it just generalized tummy troubles and "not feeling quite right" UNTIL yesterday when I went for my long run. Well I guess it was too much "jiggling" for the gall bladder and my long run turned more into a long walk back after being 2.5 miles away from car!

Anyways, I see the surgeon tomorrow and I'm hoping to get the procedure done ASAP! I have the 5K coming up during Marathon weekend so don't want to mess with that! ;)

Hope all you Goofs are doing well! Happy Tuesday to all :)

Bettina Hope they take care of that quickly. I know a couple of people who have had that done and over the years the procedure seems to get less invasive. Hope you're back on your feet and training again soon.

Rich Glad your on the upswing with your running. And what is that "word count" in your siggie?

Suzanne Sounds like you're getting good value for your running dollar! And DD and I will be in your neck of the woods in a few weeks. We are eating at Artist Point one night during our stay.

Got back to the gym today after being gone last week. Running and yoga-felt good but strange.

Hitting the road again this weekend to drive to Iowa to see DD run in NCAA Division III cross country finals.

Hope everyone is putting in the extra miles in advance of National Pigout Day next week (otherwise known as Thanksgiving!)

Maura

Bettina - hope it goes well, and you recovery quickly.

Suzanne - that is good value for your dollar. Have fun with the back to back dare.

Maura - I am doing National Novel Writing Month this month. Basically, every November, you commit to writing a 50,000 word novel. It's not going to be good, but the goal is to write something that maybe, just maybe, you can go back and revise into something decent one day. So far, I have "won" (meaning completed 50k words) four years in a row, but only two of those have even a chance of seeing the light of day. (The other two are somewhere in the realm of unprintability, and I won only on technicalities - I don't think I can ever salvage anything out of either of them.)

Right now, I should be at 26,667 words by the end of the day, but I am only at 21,300 - I fell behind, and am working at catching up and getting ahead again. I should be past the 25k mark by the time I go to bed tomorrow night.

Bettina - I hope you have a speedy recovery! Take care.

Maura - Best of luck to your DD. Save travels!

Rich - Make that two very impressive streaks you have. I've never heard of National Novel Writing Month but it sounds like a great idea. I think I'd need the other 11 months to come up with an idea. Congratulations!

My family caught a nasty bug that has been going around. It started at my DD's preschool (don't they all start in school?) where my daughter came home feeling fine Thursday night and then was up all night. 16 kids and two teachers were home the next day!

I thought I avoided it well enough after DD and DW got it but I unfortunately woke up with it Saturday morning, the day I was supposed to have two races - a 3 mile followed by an 8 mile. Needless to say those didn't happen. Fortunately I didn't lose any money as there was no pre-registration.

I haven't laced up since but today was the first day I've felt human again so I'm hitting the gym on my lunchbreak tomorrow to try to get back up to speed with my marathon training program.

Hey Goofs. Sorry I have been MIA last couple weeks.
My daughter and I were in a bad car wreck two weeks ago and my car got totaled. We were blessed and walked away just sore, along with the other driver. My training came to a halt as I have a hurt foot and chest. Along with not sleeping and stressing about finding another car I guess I put my immune system down and caught a nasty cold. Yep, it's been a yucky two weeks. I've managed only three slow runs since then. Tomorrow we're supposed to run 22 miles and I'm questioning delaying it until next weekend. We'll see...

Bettina, hope things go well with the gall bladder!
Steve, sorry about the bug. Those things are always the worst!

OK, off to try to catch up on some things I've neglected.

Hugs! :grouphug:

Shan Hope your new Pilot works out well and that you feel better soon. You will be fine doing the 22 next weekend.

Steve Hope your run went okay and you're recovering from the creeping crud.

Back from a whirlwind trip to Iowa to watch DD become an All-American! She finished 24th in the race and team took 3rd, so it was good all around.

Did 10 today--at an easy pace. Hips are a little sore.

Time to go watch some more football.

Just a quick drive-by post, wishing all the Goofs a very happy Thanksgiving!

Just stopping by to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! Good luck to those of you running in various Turkey Trots. I am running in one tomorrow...my first 10K!

Hey Goofs,

Hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving holiday. So much preparation for such a short meal! Made too much food, of course. And the guests I had over--a very good friend--put about 1 tbsp of each food on her plate since our 2 pm dinner was "not the typical meal time". I know I shoudln't, but I feel a little snarky about that. So on to Christmas!

Been getting in my maintenance runs, cyber shopping and looking forward to my Disney trip 2 weeks from today with my daughter. I intend to embarass her by celebrating all her "victories" this fall--turning 21, getting a job, and being a NCAA Division 3 Cross Country All American. She will be embarassed, but I will have fun!

Maura

Hello Goofs. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I personally have alot to be thankful for. 5K coming up this weekend, last race for the year. Looking ahead to 2011 and not too sure what I want to do yet. My motivation comes and goes but I know for some races (especially the Disney ones), I need to plan lots of months ahead.

Maura, which night are you headed to Artist Point?

Wow, I can't believe it's December already. I was hoping to get in another November run yesterday, but my motivation has been MIA, especially since I tweaked my calf on Saturday's long run and had to bail on the last 4 miles. The calf is better now and I think I got most of the lounging/loafing out of my system, so I'm hitting the treadmill tonight.

November miles = 91.9 but there was a race in there, so let me double the miles for that, and that brings me up to 105. My first triple-digit month in a VERY long time!

Shan, how are you feeling? I'm sorry to hear about the car, but glad you, your daughter, and the other driver were all able to walk away.

Bettina, best wishes for surgery and recovery.

And Steve, I hope you are fully recovered as well.

Ashleigh, how was your Turkey Trot?

I hope a happy Thanksgiving was had by all. See ya on the December thread!
