We just returned home from our first trip "home" and I am so thankful we bought into DVC.

Had an ok stay at SSR (didn't get either of my room requests -- ground floor and CP, got fourth floor and Carousel), but how could I complain as we spent Thanksgiving at WDW?

For anyone wondering if DVC is for you -- there is a thread here somewhere where you can calculate the cost per point value of DVC. That helped me to understand that even buying into VGF, we are saving money in the long run. They way we vacation, we will break even in about 5-6 years.

Looking forward to our first stay at VGF in January! Thanks to all the DVC Disers who have been so helpful in answering questions!

I'm thankful just for the fact my family has grown from 4 of us when we purchased to now 6. Not sure I could afford deluxe style accomodations on Disney property with 6 of us. Though we do head to WDW less frequently now. My #4 has only been 2x and both visits he was under 2. This April we head back, looking forward to seeing how my younger kids react.

I'm thankful to DVC for introducing us to their Hilton Head resort. I'm sitting in our 1 BR villa while DH is out golfing (again). Until the DVC tour, we didn't even know this resort existed. Now we're ending our 9th consecutive Thanksgiving here, and making plans for our 10th ("We didn't get to---, so we'll have to do it next year). Wonderful trip, as always.

I am also thankful for HH resort because that is where I toured and bought DVC the first time. We were looking at a different timeshare and noticed Disney had a DVC component there. We quickly toured it and bought on the spot. We new about DVC from staying at VB, but HH sold us on it.

I don't know how you figure after you pay your yearly due's how is it worth it?? I tell people that are thinking about joining even on WDW property ask them if you can get free dinning or discount tickets if you don't live in Florida? They have no answers. When I first started in DVC the points were less than $100 now there $165 its a joke. If you live in Florida buy it your the ones that get all the perks. :confused3 We sold our points and bought re-sale A lot cheaper!!!!

Just went to Aulani for 8 nights in one bedroom. If I'd paid cash, it would have cost $5,000. As it was the maintenance fees I paid were about just over $1200 for the number of points used. So completely worth it. I would never have paid $5000 for accommodations. And then I wouldn't have had such an amazing time with my family. I bought in 2006. The vacations have already paid themselves off.
