Just had to amend our trip to Orlando due to a serious illness of close family member.

Were due to go 7th July meaning VH were entitled to keep 60% of what I had paid so far.

Rang and spoke to a very helpful person, who after hearing of the circumstances took my case to her manager and agreed we could change the whole holiday to 25th August with no penalty.

It was all set up within 15 mins - flights we wanted, hotel and car, all as originally booked and I was even able to go into the VA website immediately and choose our seats on the new flight.

Basically they could of refused and it would of been down to me to try to claim cancellation off my Insurers whilst VH kept the cash (nearly £3,000) so a big thankyou to VH for doing the decent thing without any fuss or trouble for me at a time when I can do without any more problems.

Sometimes big companies do put people before profit.

:thumbsup2

Glad to hear that VH helped in such a nice way! :thumbsup2 Not so glad to hear about the circumstances surrounding your need to change your holiday, though. :sad2:

Just shows though, big corporations are not always about the money! :goodvibes

I had to change my holiday from February next year until April. Virgin were great and gave me all sorts of discounts. Even gave me 10% off total cost of holiday. Thumbs up for Virgin :thumbsup2

We had an issue with one of our holidays recently and again virgin sorted everything out at no charge to ourselves.

Glad you had everything sorted and i hope everything is ok with your family member!

It's always great to hear stories like this, thank you for sharing.

I hope all is well with your family member too :)

Thank you for posting and I do hope all is well with your family member :) I have been looking for information on Virgin's policy regarding this as we are thinking of booking 2 economy flights for a December trip but at the same time my Mom has had some medical issues this past year and so I'd like to be able to change the flights if needed. I was thinking of calling since I haven't been able to find the information on their website but perhaps I don't need to?

Well done, Virgin. In my experience, they do seem to be willing to be flexible, even when it flies in the face of their published policy.

Well done Virgin!! I hope your family member is ok :)

That's really good news for you 'cos you were most likely to have been stressed enough with the family illness (hope they are ok). My father-in-law, sadly, passed away 3 days before our wedding day last october (he was poorly with cancer for 3 months leading up to our wedding - we had our wedding day in his memory and it went amazingly well), we hadn't booked a honeymoon, cos i couldn't get what we wanted - i must have had a sixth sense about it. That's why our 1st wedding anniversary holiday is also our be-lated honeymoon and my god we certainly need it! Ours is also with Virgin good to hear they are also compassionate.

Glad to hear that they put compassion before policy. Hope your family member is OK and that you have a great trip
