We just got back from our one day visit to DL/DCA - What a great time we had!! Our family was one of the first through the turnstiles after the countdown to enter. We were on the first sub for Nemo and were off of Toy Story Midway Mania by 10:20. We absolutely adored Soarin'. Without you all, we would not have been able to do as much as we did. My husband was very impressed with all of the tips that made our trip fantastic. Thank you for all of your tips and advice. The crowds were not bad at all. The weather was nice. We closed the parks at midnight and were spent. It was truly a blow-out day - and we weren't even dreamed!

thanks again!

P.S. The Candy Cane Inn was great too! A comfortable walk and timely shuttle. Rooms were comfortable and big enough for us four. The staff was unbelievably helpful and friendly. We also got to the Disney Warehouse and found sweatshirts for $14 and 20 that were just what we were looking for. No 8-year-old boy stuff though, just toys. We found him a t-shirt in the park that he liked.

Glad you had a fun & productive day. :thumbsup2

 Why don't you do a mini (bullet point) post on what you accomplished in one day. (please!! popcorn:: )

I agree with your opinion on the Candy Cane....& that shuttle can be "timely" on walks back to the motel.

Thanks!

Glad you and your family enjoyed your trip!! Welcome back.

:yay: Another successful "DIS" trip!!!

I'm so glad you had a great time! I can't imagine trying to plan for a one-day trip as I'm usually eager to do everything! :lmao:

Okay, here is my list. I know some people will feel that we didn't get the full DL experience becuase we didn't get to do certain things, but I feel that we had a great time and rode some great rides and that is all that matters.:thumbsup2 Hopefully my son and I will get back and finish up what we missed this time. We are the park commandos - go all day without eating or resting so I know we will get more done than if Dad and DD are with us.

DL -
Disneyland Railroad
Monorail
Pirates of the Caribbean
Big Thunder Mountain RR in the dark - yikes!
Pirates lair on Tom Sawyer Island - saw Jack Sparrow and chased him about.
Splash Mountain
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
Casey Jr Circus Train
Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Matterhorn Bobsleds
Pinocchio's Daring Journey
Snow White's Scary Adventure
Astro Orbiter
Buzz Astro Blasters
Nemo

DCA -
Tower of Terror - just me, another yikes!
Toy Story Midway Mania
Sun Wheel
*Mulholland Madness - in line and then it broke down just before we got to ride.
Orange Stinger
SS Rustworthy
Soarin' (twice)
Grizzly River Run (twice)

We saw the Parade of Dreams, Dreams Come True Fireworks, and a litte of Fantasmic. We also did tons of pressed pennies and shopped a bit. By the time we got around to Fantasyland, our time was coming to a close as DH and DD were ready to go an hour ago and DS and I felt rushed. Anyway, a great day was had by all. My only mistake was getting autotopia FP not realizing that Space Mountain was right there and we ended up not riding Space Mountain even though we wanted to. The lines for TSMM and Nemo were unbelievable practically all day. Let's just say, my peeps were praising my research after we rode both and loved both rides, esp. TSMM. DH was also dumbfounded that more people did not use FP, especially since there was no cost involved. He was loving the not waiting in line. Being the big rule follower, he was a bit embarrassed to present the FP after the alloted time, but when he realized it was okay, he was good to go and happy to know about them. Also, several rides were down throughout the day, BTMRR, MM, IJ, and a few others that I cannot recall at the moment.

Thank you again everyone! You are an amazing, knowledgeable group of people who helped make the best of a one day visit to DL and DCA!

No Turtle Talk w/ Crush? No Cal. Screamin? Yep....you'll need to come back. :hippie:

Thanks for posting the recap.....you all got ALOT in. Just think how much a well researched visitor could do in 2.5 days!!!. pirate:

Unfortunately my son did not want to do Turtle Talk and I am the only one that would ride Screamin'. I might be able to get Cam to ride Screamin' next time when it is just the two of us, we will see. Time was running out on us for toad's and Peter Pan. The lines were kind of long and DH and DD were dying. Can you believe it? It was on my list, but to no avail. Maybe in February, if we can get back there, i will get the rest of it done. I think I may have seen Harold - is he the man that LOVES his job? Many people were commenting on him. maybe I am confused. Anyway, at first I was in brain overload to remember all of the details, but as the day wore on, i remembered a few things about soarin that i had read and other things like the 50,000 point on astro blasters, and no i did not hit it.

How old is DS?.....if he hasn't done it it's a must do for next time. :yay:

Psst.....to anyone else reading this.....single rider line....& there's a carousel (Triton's) for little ones right next to it. :thumbsup2

Harold is the white furry dude with red eyes who sweetly growls "hi" to visitors of his Matterhorn. ;) & for special kids he growls "hi" twice. :lmao:

DLR in a day will give anyone "brain overload". Best to do it in 3-4 days....but 1 day at DLR is better than no days. :thumbsup2
