DH flew home from Vegas yesterday. Due to mechanical problems, the Vegas to Cleveland flight was late. He was in row 34 (out of 42). Because of the 45 minute delay, the FAs asked that all Cleveland area passengers wait, allowing the people with connections to deplane first. And they DID! DH had about 10 minutes to get to another terminal and he made it. So thank you people of Cleveland.

DH and I were flying home from WDW in Sept. and the same request was made of New York area passengers and no more than 5 passengers complied.

Way to go Cleveland! I was on a similar flight a few years back where someone was seated near the back of the plane. They had a baby and a short connection due to a late arrival. The FA's made an announcement asking that all passengers who were at their final destination please wait while connecting passengers deplane....... needless to say, the family ended up standing in the aisle while almost no one waited... it was pathetic! I sat in my seat and shook my head.

We had a similar situation in Orlando on Jet Blue a couple of weeks ago with passengers connecting St. Lucia(?). Everyone waited and we were impressed, both with that fact and the fact that the FAs even asked people to do so.

Yep, not a lot else you could do, or not that you'd be allowed to fly anymore :)

I just have a comment about airlines.

My husband was on his way home from Iraq for a 2 weeks RR and he had trouble getting flight out of atlanta to Toledo, ohio (this was a transfer hub) and had already been traveling like 15 hours. He was on a waiting list(can't remember the airline). Anyways a wonderful women requested to give my husband her ticket home and she would take a delay just for him. Since their were 3 people ahead of him on the waiting list they would not do it!She cold only give her ticket to the next person on the list. The policy was to go in order of the wait and they would not even ask the people ahead of him if this was okay! Needless to say atleast Clevaland has courtesy and resopect.

That was an awesome offer from the woman. She may have been a quieter person than I am,because I would have stood up and requested peoples attention to see if the other 3 people cared. ;) I am glad to hear that there are still some nice people in the world.:goodvibes I hope he had a wonderful RR with you.

Glad to hear people were nice :) the last time I was in a situation like that I had 10 mins to make a connection in a different terminal in ATL. A gentleman on my flight decided that while trying to deplane was the perfect opportunity to argue with me that the plane I was trying to connect to couldn't legally take off without me on the plane. For some reason he thought I was on an international flight, even though he had overheard me saying (in a decently thick southern accent thanks to a week in FL) that I was making a connection to Detroit...
