Anyone ever eaten here? My family is headed to WDW on Saturday and I realy think they'd love this place (they're real soup nuts!). I've been to the website, but I'd like to know from people who've been there:

1) How much $$$ for lunch/ supper?
2) How does it work? Is it a buffet/ self serve/ family style?

Thanks! You guys are great!

ETA: Thanks everyone for your info and advice. My family did end up trying Sweet Tomatoes for the first time, and they loved it SO much that the cancelled their ADR for Biergarten and went offsite to S.T. instead! Now I want to try it!!!

I've never tried the one in Orlando, but we eat at the Sweet Tomatoes here at home quite often and love it. The way it works is you walk in and go through the salad part of the buffet, then pick up your silverware and beverage cup, and pay. You take your tray to a table, then go back for soups, pastas, breads, etc. Drinks and ice cream/frozen yogurt are located near the tables.

Prices are around $8 for lunch/$10 for dinner for adults; kids are something like $.50 per year of age. Beverages (other than water) are extra. You can go back for more salad or anything else as often as you like; there are 6 or 7 soups available every day.

You can look up the "daily menu" by location at http://www.sweettomatoes.com/. It tells you what soups, pastas and specialty salads are available on any given day--it always gives me something to look forward to! Enjoy!

Wow, thanks for the speedy reply, thunderbird!

Now, any reviews on the Golden Corral breakfast buffet, or any others in the Orlando area? My family are HUGE buffet lovers and my father asked me to find him a "good breakfast buffet".

Thanks SO much!:hippie:

DH and I used to eat at the Sweet Tomatoes off International Drive a lot when I lived in Orlando. Now we live in the Tampa Bay area and there's one about 30 minutes from us that we go to several times a year. The one in Orlando is a nice big restaurant.

When you walk in you'll get a tray and a plate (or two) and there's a buffet for salad and lots of sides first. You'll choose your beverage and pay, then you'll get a table. Then you can go up to the soup buffet and they have pasta stations and baked potato stations and breads/muffins. It's all you care to eat so you can go back through the buffet line as many times as you want. There are free refills on beverages too and water is free. The desserts are good - make your own suday and sometimes, depending on that month's promotion, they have muffins or cookie bars. I remember at the one in Orlando there was a server, an older gentleman named Ancesar, who was just delightful and gave me free cookies :) I wonder if he's still there? There are usually Sweet Tomatoes coupons in the Sunday paper for 15% off dinner or lunch, so if you can grab a Sunday paper, definitely look for the coupons. If you join the Club Veg you can get coupons through e-mail and a frequent buyer card that gives you, I think, 10% off.

Sorry, I don't know anything about Golden Corral. I have not had good experiences with Shoney's breakfast buffets, though, so you might want to avoid those.

I LOVE Sweet Tomatoes!!! I could eat there everyday!! I love the potatoe bar! The salad bar is SO good too!! My kids love making their own ice creams, so everyone is happy!!

Just say NO to GC on 192 near the Animal Kingdom!! We ate there a few weeks ago and saw 3 roaches! It was awful. :scared:

YUM! We love Sweet Tomatoes, unfortunately, they have really raised their prices here in Orlando (I guess everyone loves it and that's what people will pay!). It used to be quite the bargain, but now it's almost $10 I believe to eat dinner - not much less for lunch - when it used to be around $7. So, go hungry and linger! I personally LOVE their chicken noodle soup, and the whole family gets a brownie muffin topped with ice cream for dessert. Enjoy!:goodvibes

:goodvibes Thanks, everyone! I've read every reply and this sounds like a place my family would definitely enjoy!:thumbsup2
