Thank You Disneyworld

Here is an email from Michael Eisner and Bob Iger about this.

Dear Fellow Cast Member:

As we all watch the deeply disturbing images of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, we feel compelled to reach out and help in any way we can. Toward that effort, we want to inform you that The Walt Disney Company has made a commitment of $2.5 million to support recovery efforts in the communities affected by the hurricane. This includes a $1 million contribution to the American Red Cross for immediate relief efforts, $1 million for rebuilding efforts targeted at children's charities, and the remaining $500,000 will be directed toward volunteer centers providing services to the communities affected by the hurricane.

The devastation in the wake of Hurricane Katrina is simply heartbreaking and our thoughts are with those struggling in the aftermath of this disaster. We hope that our company's efforts will aid emergency management teams and organizations in their efforts to provide assistance to individuals and families as they begin the difficult road toward rebuilding their lives.

The Red Cross tells us that the most immediate need is for financial assistance and they are not collecting food, clothing and other supplies at this time. They will keep us advised as needs arise or change. If you personally wish to donate to the Red Cross relief effort, the following link has been created for Disney cast members to help: https://www.redcross.org/donate/MMRedir.ASP?CID=HUR-DisneyEmp . You can log on to the My Disney Team portal for updates.

We know you join us in keeping the countless victims of this terrible tragedy in our thoughts and prayers.

Michael Bob

thats so wonderful! I feel just horrible for what those people are experiencing right now-all those starving kids/babies,it's totally heartbreaking.. Everyone should make a donation to the Red Cross-even if it's only $10-every little bit helps.

That is wonderful!

We're going to make a donation tomorrow through my DH's company which is matching employee donations to the Red Cross.

One of my friends (who's also a former co-worker), her husband and 6-month-old baby, and 2 dogs evacuated from New Orleans and are now staying with her mother. Their house and belongings are probably ruined - they found out their neighborhood was at least waist-deep in water. But who knows how long before they'll even know and what will be left or salvageable. My company and our staff are gathering contributions to help her as well. This horrific destruction has hit home and we're doing what we can to help.

Thank you, Disney. I would expect no less. I hope it doesn't stop there.

This sure makes me feel better about all my money that I've spent at WDW the past few years... We all should get behind the Red Cross efforts and give money and blood!!

Greetings from the edge of the disaster area and thank you disney. Mobile did not suffer damage as great as Mississippi or Louisianna yet still thousands have lost there homes or they are unusable until clean up due to such a large storm surge along Alabama's coastline. The disaster in Mississippi and Louisianna can only be described as UNBELIEVABLE. DH and I just spent our 11th anniversary in the Casinos in Biloxi this past Saturday and now they are gone. Recovery is going to take quite a while. :sad1:

I'm so glad to read this. I was wondering if Disney would do anything to help and reading this gives me great pride in being a stock holder as well as a loyal customer. The dollars I spent there will help people. Now if Disney could just open up a hotel to stick all those people in that would be wonderful.

I'm glad that WDW is helping out. :) I pray that they continue to do so.
