Thank you cards for housewarming gift?

Do you expect to receive a thank you card for giving a housewarming gift? I gave 2 hw gifts this summer and never received a card. I'm not upset about it, just wondering if it's not "the norm" do send one? I know that when people gave us gifts, I sent thank you cards immediately. Just wondering what your experiences are on the subject? TIA!

I do send out thank you cards, but have come across some people that don't do cards at all. They may think that by just talking to you and saying thank you is enough and a card is not needed.
