We just got back from a trip to AKL from the 19th through the 26th and I have to write this because what could have been a very tough trip, irritating, frustrating and disappointing, instead was one of the very best trips I have ever had to Disney.
I was really worried about our first trip to WDW during Christmas week.
I had never been there before during a busy time of year and thought it was highly possible we would find it so busy we would be jostled, pushed around, and find the lines so long we would not be able to ride any of the big rides or get into any of the shows without waiting in lines for two hours to do so. I made all the ADRs I could and signed up for the Candlelight Processional months in advance. But the best thing I did was subscribe to TourGuide Mike. 
I had had a plan in place but after studying TGM very carefully I changed the days we went to the parks, the times we went, the places we watched parades, the way we toured during the Christmas Party. And it was incredible! We walked on rides, watched parades with only a short wait, had leisurely meals, saw all the shows, and had an experience much like that I would have during a slow time of the year.
I could not believe the difference it made - and I wanted to share that with people on this board because as I watched the crowds and listened to people complain about how bad the crowds were, I was so very thankful there is a better way. This probably sounds like a bad commercial, but I could give you specifics all day. If you are planning to go during a busy time, I would hope you investigate his site. You have to spend some time with it, but it is worth it!
