Well, we still have no drinking water (parts of gloucestershire were flooded 2 weeks ago, and the entire county lost water)

Work has been crazily busy.

And then there is facebook

Does everybody at the Poly know who ConcKahuna is? Or are you the only David that works there? :teeth:

I'm actually one of 4 Davids, but I'm the one who's almost always in the Hawaii concierge.

Where at the Poly are you? (I try not to make it a habit of knocking on room doors) We're not planning anything there (especially now that I know this) but plans can change (as if). :p

Does someone know how to make this siggie sized?

Long lost fraternal twins...

Scouse...sorry about having to deal with the flooding!

Don't worry, I wont be in a room. Let's just say I'll be sitting behind a desk and wearing odd-looking clothes...

Me too Scouse, I admittedly live in my own little world, but sorry you are dealing with all of this

We were fortunate and it never touched our house, but we have friends who were rescued by boat.

Road junction near our house was knee deep in water that night, I slept in a hotel armchair as I couldnt get home and there were no hotels for the night near where I work.

Hardest day was the monday when we lost power (as well as no water) for 17hrs. We had no tap water for 8 days - just relying on bowsers and bottled water.

How are people supposed to stop by and say hi, I thought the "common" folks weren't allowed in the concierge building:confused3;)

Why did it take so long to restore the water pressure?

I don't think they'd be too happy with me if I showed up in drag...

I'll check my schedule tomorrow and see if I have any days in the lobby. If not, the club level desks are right near the door to the concierge building so it's no big deal :)

Why did it take so long to restore the water pressure?

The treatment facility for the county (approx 340,000 people) was flooded.

So after the system was drained by normal usage, they had to clean up the flood from the facility, before pumping water through

Even now, although we have 'grey water' in order to flush and bathe, still cant drink from it, do food prep etc - even if you boiled it.

The major electrical substation was apparantly 2 inches (5 cm) from being flooded, which would have cut power to 500,000 people and the police were apparantly going to evacuate the whole county if that had happenned.
