For a 7am flight out of TF Green in Providence, what time would you get to the airport? Im flying alone with my 9yr son. We have Delta E-tickets. My E-ticket has a seat number, his does not. I did call and they said we did have reserved seats.

I would get there at about 6 am. Have the skycap check in your luggage and check you in and issue you your boarding passes. Trust me, for the about 1.00 per bag tip, it will make your life really easy. The last thing you need traveling with a child is tugging luggage around.

I wouldn't check your luggage with the skycap. Bring luggage right in to the counter when you check-in. We have flown Delta many times before. For a 7:00 flight we tend to be at the airport for 5:45AM.

Polymom,
I am curious, why not check the luggage with a skycap? Why not avoid the lines inside.
The skycap can issue your boarding passes with an eticket and after you leave him/her, you are on your way to your gate, hasslefree, and most of the time, line free.
Makes no sense to stand in the line at the counter, IMHO.

The skycap can't issue seat assignments for her son. This must be done inside at the Delta counter with an agent. Why wait in line twice?? Everytime we have flown out of Green on Delta the lines with the skycap are longer than inside with an agent. Delta is not a major carrier at Green therefore the lines aren't very long.

I am confused. When we fly out of Logan we check our bags with the Sky Cap. They are always able to give us our boarding passes. We usualy have our seat already assigned as I book our tickets through the delta web site. I just assumed that since they issused boarding passes they could also assign seats.

What is the difference between the two?

People holding tickets without seat assignments are given boarding passes with seat assignments at check-in. If I were traveling with children, the last thing I would want is to have seats that are not close to them. I have seen that happen with families who had tickets without seat numbers. Green is much different than Logan when flying Delta. It really is no problem at Green to check-in at the counter. I still have nightmares about Logan.

We have flown out of TF Greene on Delta about 5 times on the 7am flight. I usually get there at six and there has never been a long line, plus there are usually about three check-in stations open. If you are leaving your car in the lot , there is a bus that will come along, pick you up, and take you right to the front door of Delta Express. At that hour in the morning the shuttle busses are not that busy so they are pretty quick to scout out the parking lots and pick up passengers. They are also friendly and helpful.

imgoingtoDisney,
When you called Delta, did you ask what the seat number was? If so, you can check in at curb. The seat will come up on the ressie.

Guess I am just lazy, I don't carry luggage any further than the curb. I don't like carrying it through a line. So, I check it at curbside. The only time I could not get a boarding pass was with paper tickets (Delta) and I still curbed my luggage and went to the gate. The skycap could check me in, but could not give me a boarding pass.
I have only flown Delta out of Providence once (many times on SWA) and it was before the days of etickets, but, I have friends at Delta and they sent me my boarding passes in the mail. That was also in the days of my former husband insisting on taking all the luggage aboard (oh that was horrible!!!!!). For me, skycap all the way. :)

Gail - Yes I do have his seat number. It's just not printed out on the e-ticket. We were hoping to get out big luggage into my MILs car and have it driven down to FL with MIL and husband. However she has recently bought a new car and it is smaller and she doesnt want the roof rack on it yet. MIL lives in FL in winter so has all her stuff to bring down also. So I may be able to send down 1 big suitcase and only have 1 to check-in.

I would do what is comfortable for you. But, if it were me and since you have the seat number, I would curb the luggage and check in curbside. The worst case, you go to the gate and get the boarding pass there.
