I went to the Dr. today and she informed me that I needed a Tetanus shot because I hadn't had one for 10 years. (ugh)

I'm actually ok with most shots, and with needles, I had to get used to them, so this wasn't a big deal.

I'm now home, and can't even move my left arm. It's REALLY sore. I remember her saying that I may have some pain, like after you work out hard...but this seems much worse than that. (and I have a pretty darn high tolerance for pain)
After having a brain tumor removed, my gallbladder taken out, and various other surgeries I consider myself pretty good about dealing with pain. So this has me a little worried that it is bugging me this much.
(typing this hurts)

Has anyone else had a bad reaction to a tetanus shot? Should I be concerned?

I'm going to see how I feel tomorrow and if it's still bad I may give the Dr. a call.

The good part about this is my DH went out and got us dinner so I didn't have to cook!

Your dog is precious!

I had a mild reaction to a tetanus shot last year. I had some localized swelling, soreness and achiness in my arm. I took some motrin and it went away in a few days. Hope you feel better.

I would give the doctor a call if you still are having problems tomorrow. My doctor gets mad at me every visit because I refuse to have another one. After my aunt, who shares some of my allergies, had one she lost some feeling in one side of her body. Her doctor said it was from the shot and that she should never get it again. There were some other problems as well, but this is all I can remember at the moment.

SnoWhite,
I, too, had a tetanus shot a few years back and let me tell you, my arm HURT! I remember thinking I must be a major wimp cause it ranked up there with a toothache:mad: It feels like a huge charley horse lump and touching it is excruciating. Maybe it is worse for some of us than others??? If it is not feeling better by a day or so, I would call the doc, but I think it is pretty normal.

Hope your DH brings home a yummy dinner and your arm feels better soon:)

I had a tetanus shot in '98 and didn't even know you could have a reaction to it. I'd call the doctor, just to be sure, especially with your history. Better safe than sorry.

My doc always gave me the shot in the butt. It made sitting down very interesting.:) You should not be in excruciating pain. Call the doc tomorrow if it isn't better.

Mine hurt really bad like someone punched me in the arm 50 times. I called the Dr. and they said it was normal. I'd call if it makes you feel bettter. I think I got a fever and chills from it too.

Try ice and motrin. I pretty much the same reaction a few years ago. DD had hers and it was just a little tender.

I just had one on Friday. It stopped hurting yesterday - so 5 days! I had a little redness at the site of injection as well as soreness and what felt like a hard area under the skin. Oh well, now I'm good for another 10 years!

Erin :D

I had one a little over a year ago as part of my physical. My arm was sore for a few days. Kindof like someone punched me.

I had a tetanus shot in Feb. I remember pain - and I had a large red bump where the shot was given for about a week.
