Test video for the images being projected on Cinderella Castle. Blech.

I agree with most of you. I don't like it at all. I don't want to see pictures flashing across the castle. :sad2: Why do they have to mess with the castle? But hey, I guess it could be worse. They could have made it that ugly, God awful pink cake again. That was just awful! :scared1::sick:

I hope they only play this a few minutes a night and don't ruin the lovely sight of the castle all night long with this shmutz!

I am with you.

I will say that although it won't completely ruin my trip, it will make it no where near as magical. Part of the beauty of the night time at the Magic Kingdom is seeing the castle lit up. Not looking at some pictures of people I don't even know floating across a dark castle. How ugly. So yes in that respect ,it will to some degree be a real downer on my trip. It takes away the magic.

Ok, so I see it looks like more of a show, that I can take, but if they played those pics all night long, I would truly be upset and would complain loudly to any one that would listen. Now if I can only find the idiot that changed the voice over on the TTA then I will be happy. lol

So you have never looked at a trip report here? Have you ever showed your vacation pictures to someone? How do you know they really wanted to see them? I'm not trying to start something, I'm just curious.

Not the same. A trip report you aren't forced to look at, you do it because you ant to. As far as showing someone your their vacation pics, you do that at home, not plastered all over the castle that is there for everyone to enjoy.

You just can't compare the two in any way, shape , or form.

Honestly, this reminds me of the current trend in funeral services, to show pics of the deceased in a slide show. Sorry, can't help that my mind goes there. I like Tink, but I think the rest of the time it looks like a blue gingerbread house. They did too much. I'd rather have the cake back.

So...from what I understand, this is supposed to be a 'show' that shouldn't affect Wishes or Spectro, right? Are they still doing the Electric Parade too? That is a whole lot of night time entertainment for one park.

Just to reiterate (because so many people seem to either not understand or have chosen to just ignore this outright)...

THIS IS NOT AN ALL NIGHT LONG THING.

The photos will be shown during a show each night. The shows they do last, what, 10-15 minutes? So go ahead and plan that lovely Baltic cruise but please don't try to blame a 15 minute show that you don't want to watch as the reason you don't want to go to Disney.

I think you forgot a NOT in there!

I still don't like it. ;)

Yep.....

Why 'defile' the beautiful castle....

Do they really need to re-visit the whole Birthday Cake Castle disaster...

Hate the whole idea of it.

No, I don't read trip reports. I don't care what other people do on their vacations.

Yes, when people have asked to see my vacation pictures (friends, family) I've shown them...but only when asked first. I've never offered.

I have no interest in seeing complete strangers photos. :sad2:

Thank goodness it won't impact my upcoming vacation. :thumbsup2

This is a huge 'miss' for me as far as Disney celebration themes go. But, there are going to be those who love it. It's just a big 'meh' for me. Not really special at all.

I'm glad I'm going in December. Being that I only go every 3 or 4 years, maybe it will be gone by the time I return.

Out of all the Disney fans on this site (in all of the forums) I don't think I've come across one person that loves it. :rotfl:

I like the technology. I think that green fire effect has some serious potential (MNSSHP anyone?), and the resolution of the projected images is impressive. I don't like the slideshow thing, especially not as it was done in that trial where you can hardly tell the castle is there at times and all you see is the floating image in the darkness, but I could see this being put to really spectacular use in other contexts later.

And just remember, however lame you think this is, at least it is only for a short show each evening rather than a 24/7 eyesore like the cakestle. :)

I like the part that makes the castle looked sketched, and I liked the Tink animation. The rest of it, ugh. I think the family photos on the castle is the worst part...it is ugly and it takes away from the castle as a beautiful centerpiece in the park.

:thumbsup2

I HATE the look of the photos on the castle. So cheap and cheesy and TACKY! Again - something I would expect at Six Flags or the like. Blah. Major FAIL WDW...

There goes any nice pictures of the castle with fireworks... Good thing I have a few more months before this mess starts.

I really don't want a beautiful shot of the castle with fireworks and then someone's face all up in it. YUCK.

Yuck, Tinkerbelle flying in front of the castle a few times would be fun!

I think cute and funny random or stock photos with happy music somewhere near the exit while we're waiting for others or transportation would be awesome, remind you of how much fun the day was and why you're so tired.

Well I assume this comment is aimed at me with the Baltic cruise mention:rolleyes:--I think I made it PLENTY clear that we were already debating between the two and this will just give me what I need to know to make a decision.

And, YES, I am in fact blaming my fail to return to Disney this year on this (and the accompanying campaign). Turning the castle into something akin to a tacky billboard for even 10-15 minutes every nigh (and as the BIG new thing for the year) and using "free" videos they find on youtube (as the poster here whose video is being used let us know she is getting only a lithograph for the permission to use it) lets me know that Disney is NOT interested in marketing to MY demographic right now (and no I do not really know what that is, but I know tacky bill board looks and not being willing to pay for your advertising is NOT it)--which probably means I will find many of the things in the parks lacking next year.

For many years I was WDW's target audience and I loved it. I felt totally at home there. I loved everything about the place. I even loved there ads and they resonated with me (I have a little souvinear myself lol). Those ads feel like other people's memories (probably because they ARE) but for years the ads felt like MINE being relived all over again.

The last trip things were not as much to MY tastes. Stuff felt "off," and while I enjoyed it, I enjoyed it less so. I feel, based on this footage confirming to me that the new promotion is as tacky as I thought it would be, that I am not currently the target audience for WDW and will likely find many other small things that will not appeal to me if I were to visit this year. So, I will take my vacation dollars elsewhere until they are targeting me again (if ever).
