According to a rumor I heard a while back, Test Track is scheduled to close for refurbishment for 6 months starting in January 2012. According to a new rumor I heard today, it's not going to be a refurbishment, but rather a overhaul of the entire attraction.

The new attraction will have a different name, still be sponsored by GM (who apparently made the call on it's creation), and be focused on the creation of new cars rather than testing. It will include a new fleet of vehicles (hopefully similar to the ones used in next gen Test Track rides such as Radiator Springs Racers) and some track modifications. The ride system and most of the track will apparently remain as is, which is why it will only take 6 months to make this happen.

I have a feeling we will be hearing more about this at D23 this year. It seems to be a completely realistic proposition, especially considering Epcot has a big anniversary next year and it's the park that has had the longest drought, not including minor attractions such as Captain EO's return or Innoventions.

Not really sure what to make of this, since I am a huge Test Track fan. Thoughts?"

Seems like it could be a fairly extensive pre show overhaul (much needed IMO). Also seems like GM will still be affiliated. If the makeover is true it will hopefully at least showcase their cars built this decade. All for it if it's true.

I think it is long overdue for some kind of update...the preshow videos still are stuck in the mid 90's

soarin's not going to be fun with the crowds that downtime would create haha

Fine by me as long as they don't add anything from Cars. Nemo is too much Pixar as it is!

I would accept any of the cars...um cars...being tested in the line area as well as if they fix the old barrier test and insert another one there haha

it seems interesting...I think I need more details before I make judgement but I can atleast say the video needs some work.:thumbsup2

It is in need of a refurb bad. There really isn't much they can do other than a new car testing place or a Cars themed ride. I'd rather see testing again.

Why I don't understand why you would want to ruin an original attraction? Why doed everything have to have a film tie in? Originally 95% of WDW attraction were original without tie ins.

Also how dies Cars fit in FW!

The future of Disney attractions are crappy film related overlays of the original attractions? :confused3

I'd hate to see any more pixar stuff..there is WAY too much as is....but, I was just saying if they did add stuff from cars, I'd like to see them being destroyed example being crash lightning mcqueen into the wall :) cars fits in fw as well as nemo...haha I liked the old fw much more then its present form...wonders of life(actually being used), world of motion, the living seas, horizons etc..

Ok this I'll agree to killing McQueen!

Come on... We need to kill Mater first.

If this is rethemed to Cars (besides sending Lightning McQueen into a concrete wall which would atleast provide some entertainment to a rather boring queue) I will complain to Disney constantly 24/7 until they fix it. TT is one of my favorite rides, and I will cry myself to sleep everynight if they ruin it.

Ok, sorry about that. Vent over. :goodvibes

I wouldn't worry.

The $$$ saavy Disney decision makers will cut the renovation time in half, slap a coat of paint on everything, add a very interactive features to the entrance and call it a complete renovation......like Space Mountain.....NOT.

Why didn't they learn from DL's preparation for the 50th anniversary. Space Mountain's update there was superfantabulalisticextracala....GREAT! THAT was a renovation!

I think I'm gonna puke. Am I the only one who HATES the DL SM Renovation? It was not fun, there were NO drops, and it made me nauseous.

However i do agree that it they update it it will be a cheap update and not a renovation
