My family has a June trip planned (yay!) and I just realized we haven't been to Epcot since the Test Track refurb. Can somebody tell me what the differences are? Is the ride itself pretty much the same with different theming? Curious!

The ride is exactly the same with different theming. We miss the original. The new one is futuristic...think Tron.

The old one was way better is right. The new one can't even come close to how awesome the original was. New one feels forced. Miss those test dummies

It's exactly the same except they ruined it

Same thing only different. :confused3 LOL

I agree it seems forced, new que was good, but the story in the ride was missing, I thought.

We hadn't been again since the refurb and probably would have skipped it on our latest trip in January if we hadn't met up with some friends who wanted to ride.

We were a little sad to realize there would be no more test dummy sizes to compare the kids to, but they played along for the comparison pic nevertheless ;)

Apart from the more futuristic queue:

You'll be in the room where the testers once talked about setting up the tests and it's been redone with screens for you to build your own ride vehicle to "test" against everyone else in your car. My son went for sleek and fast -- think Audi R8.

My daughter went for eco-friendly to the max, think Smart Car.

At the end, their scores in each area and the total are displayed for you to compare.

Agree with PPs -- it's like driving through Tron, although the track is the same outside. It used to be more realistic but the old storyline doesn't really work with the new look.

Still fun though -- but we're using our FP+ for Soarin since they're going to change the film so that all of the Soarin's are the same everywhere ie. they're going to ruin that one too.

I disagree, I like the new one more. I like that you die sign your own car and compete during the coarse with other cars and see how yours stands up. Also the interactive exit area is great, we spent over an hour in that section alone.

Love the Tron theme. It needed a change. The old one was getting old.

I must be in the minority then according to this thread because I thoroughly enjoyed the new TT and thought it was better than the old one. :thumbsup2

Maybe that's why I disliked it so much? The fact that the old TT had an actually "point". While this new one you just ride through. The whole "test dummy" theme was so cool to me! :headache:

Designing the car is a cool addition, but I prefer the old ride's story. No doubt it's still fun though.

I'll join you in that minority. I love the new look.. it's really cool.

Didn't they take out, or at the very least, change the hot/cold room from the old ride? There are some slight variations on the actual ride, so I wouldn't say it's EXACTLY the same.

I like the aspect that you can test your own design versus the other designs in your car so it adds an element of competitiveness. We always stopped to look to see the results after each test. However, we rode about 5 times in November and not once did the results screen work correctly after the outdoor part :confused3

I think the whole crash test dummy theme made more sense and was easier for kids to understand and wrap their mind around, versus this futuristic theme and the vernacular they use during the test sequences.
