TEST TRACK and GM Employees? Is it true that GM employees get to move to the front of the liine at Test Track? I work at a GM plant and never knew this. What do I need to show the CM and does your family get to come with you? Any information would be appreciated.

The first time I went all I needed was my gm health insurance card(left DH ID in the room). Then next time I was required to have the GM picture Id or no entry. When you arrive at test track let any CM you see know that you are a GM employee. They will direct you to an elevator where you will be required to show your id into a camera. Once you do this the elevator will open and you will arrive upstairs. You will then have to sign a guest book. They have a huge window up in the lounge that give's a great veiw of Epcot. You may have a soda or coffee if you wish. Sit and relax in the air conditioning for awhile if it is hot outside. There is also a window where you can watch people while they are on the ride. Yes your family can go this route with you. When you are ready you will be taken to another elevator and told to follow the line on the floor. When you get to the ride you will be directed to the next in line area. enjoy, Susan

We were shown this area when we were picked as family of the day at Epcot. We were givena tour of the area as well as mission space and Soarin'. It was great. Now I wish I worked for GM.... :)

Whoa! How did you get picked as family of the day?? That's so awesome - you must have been beyond excited! :earseek:

The lounge closes at 4 or 5 so after that you will need to use the gift shop door and look for the desk near the exit of the ride. Show your GMTKS badge and the CM will give you passes to go the the front of the line.

If you are going Monday -Friday between 9-5 just use the grey steel door to the right of the main entrance. At the end of the hall there is a buzzer with a camera to show you I.D. If you are going after 5 or on a weekend you enter in the giftshop and show a CM. You will not be able to use the lounge but will get front of the line. The lounge is great so try to plan for a weekday. We had 9 guest plus our family of 5 use it last trip.

As a GM employee, I have taken advantage of this perk many times. It is exactly as described. Show your GM ID into the camera and they will tell you to come up. It's very nice to get out of the heat and relax with a soda for a few minutes. When you're ready, you can skip the long line - fantastic:cool1:

I work for GMAC-RFC, and we don't have the picture IDs that GM has. A business card was sufficient for me. A coworker showed his Insurance card and that worked as well. The other thing to point out is that you can use it as much as you want each day!!!

Nice to still have one perk now that everyone get's the employee discount on cars! ;)

Lorelai - We were walking in to the rope drop. Near the walls of little pictures. We were hurrying to get to the front of the rope drop when, a cm came over and asked if we could help him with something. We said sure! He asked us if we could open the park and if we wouldn't mind riding some rides by ourselves. So he took us to a test trac car that was on the sidewalk. He took us up front and we waved to everyone at the rope drop. He then took us to test trac and we rode it 2x by ourselves. They then took us upstairs in the GM building were they explained how Test Trac worked. They then passed us onto another cm who took us (well my wife and kids rode) to Mission Space. While they rode I got a behind the scenes tour of Mission Space. They then took us to Soaring and were put to the front of the line. It was so cool to do this. My dream is we will eventually get picked for each park. :earsboy: Ahhh it's just a small dream. IT COULD HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!! Lol I fell in love with Disney on this trip....

a friend of mine is a receptionist at a gm dealership... would she qualify? (i'm helping her plan her trip and i am *sure* she does not know this perk exists!)

I drive a GM, does that qualify? Just kidding......

but i am from detroit....does that qualify?......

that really is a nice perk.....like the generous motors of the good old days......

i just remembered something from many years ago....back when the TTA was called the Wedway PeopleMover.....somehow it was related to the electric utility industry....and this is way way back when there were A,B, C, D and E tickets....my inlaws were associated with the electric utility industry, so we got lots of free tickets to WDW and free attraction tickets....funny that i forgot that...

the GM lounge that you describe, sounds very similar to the AP lounge they had for a while in the Land pavilion.

I used to work for Metlife, and they have the same type of deal at Body Wars. :cool1:

It was really great, because they also had a seperate lounge area, and you could sit and cool off before going onto the ride. :Pinkbounc

If you can enjoy this at "GM" I would definately go for it. :cheer2:

This is a really cool perk! No I don't work for GM, don't even drive a GM car, but I just wanted to say how nice it is that these things exist. As long as they don't expect you to fix the ride if (when!!) it breaks!!!!! ;)
